Inside Rugby

[edit]

Do you think we should mention what happened on Inside Rugby? The show brought up and discussed a number of relevent issues, which were later mentioned by a number of media sources as well.

Brisbane teams

[edit]

I think it is basically confirmed now that both QLD teams will be in Brisbane, specifically, playing out of Ballymore.

Apparently not. I read that the other team will now be called S-E QLD, and the Gold Coast is back in the picture, and at least may be hosting some games. Narrasawa 03:32, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Teams

[edit]

The teams are all known now. The NSWRU announced their sides.[1] Sundladyks 2 14:08, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have changed the Team name bit in the table to all unknown, as opposed to what city they are based in. Any names and so on are yet to be revealed. Sundladyks 2 14:30, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Does anyone know if the alignment of clubs for the NSW teams has been finalised?Narrasawa 10:15, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article title

[edit]

Since this competition does not really have an official name yet, but National Rugby Competition has been used in the media and so on, but is not official, this page should be at National rugby competition. Yeah? Narrasawa 04:20, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Probably best to leave it here until we see a media release rather than second guessing what the ARU will do. The main reason I think it should stay here is that the ARC is the current working title being used on the Australian Rugby Union at website www.rugby.com.au. I imagine a naming rights sponsor trumping that eg 'The [Sponsor] Australian Rugby Championship at some stage. Proberton 11:04, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just a note for future reference - other similar articles do not use the sponsor. (e.g. A-League instead of Hyundai A-League, National Rugby League instead of Telstra National Rugby League, etc.) Of course, redirects from the sponsored name are always a good idea. -- Chuq (talk) 05:11, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Given that naming rights sponsors are never set in stone I agree 100% that using the sponsors name in the title will be problematic. As an example, the Super 14s have a different naming rights sponsor in each country. Proberton 01:16, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed, as there was only one season it would make sense to merge the two articles, however it would the replacement be? Will the Australian Provincial Championship continue as previous? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Elchuddy (talkcontribs) 16:16, 13 April 2008 (UTC) As there is and only will be one season of this, is it not fitting that the only season be merged with this article? --Bob (talk) 23:07, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Makes sense to me. There were only eight rounds + finals so it shouldn't be too much of a hassle. Bongomanrae (talk) 05:55, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Would it not make sense to go the other way? Merge 2007 Australian Rugby Championship into this article?Nicholas Perkins (TC) 10:44, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's what I agreed with. Bongomanrae (talk) 08:47, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox

[edit]

The infobox template has been reinstated so this article conforms with other pages for major rugby union competitions across the world. Championships and leagues from England to Japan (leagues playing rugby union) use the rugby league cup infobox. Likewise for all the major southern hemisphere competitions, right up to tournaments including the Rugby World Cup. These include:

And there are in excess of 100 more Rugby Union competition pages which transclude this template

The composition of this infobox is cleaner than the generic version. There was some talk four and five years ago about replicating the template specifically for rugby union use only but this did not come to fruition. Most likely a further split off is not warranted. -- Ham105 (talk) 20:02, 6 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
