Bugoy Carino → Bugoy Cariño – His name is Bugoy Cariño not Bugoy Carino. I tried to change the name but it says that the "Bugoy Cariño" has move protection, prohibiting me to do it. AR E N Z O Y 1 6A•t a l k• 15:10, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
- Comment Hi Renzoy16, for better or worse experience suggests that accents on "Asian" names are more controversial than for "European" peoples on en.wp. Simple observation shows that 100% of western names (with 1 exception, Ana Ivanovi c (sic), perhaps too pretty to bear a Serbian ć) are spelled accurately/fully, but when it comes to "Asians" (I'm thinking Maori macrons, Hawaiian okinas, Vietnamese alphabet) there is evidently more resistance. However http://entertainment.inquirer.net/90023/when-a-tyke-triumphs does show a Spanish ñ. Be interesting to see replies... In ictu oculi (talk) 15:39, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
- FWIW, prompted by own comment above and others' comments below I've put in an RM to bring Talk:Ana Ivanović back into line with all other Europeans. In ictu oculi (talk) 06:24, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
- Reply Hello there sir. His name is really Bugoy Cariño. With 'ñ' not 'n'. There are several references there to support it. Though some Asians names has no non-western letters, however, the Philippines has been under 300 years of colonial rule. And some of the Filipinos have adapted and used Spanish last names already. Even, 'ñ' is part of the Filipino alphabet. So I don't see the reason stopping the name change (for it is his real name). This is not really on accent issues. I am a Filipino, and I rarely see names pronounced as, for example, Montano and is spelled Montaño. Montano is Montano, while Montaño is Montaño. I am making sense sir?--AR E N Z O Y 1 6A•t a l k• 16:39, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
- Renzoy, yes, you make perfect sense, and you are superbly polite, it makes a very pleasant change. Thank you. If others support this move so will I. (BTW see Montano mainly Italian surname, but also Spanish, and Montaño only Spanish). In ictu oculi (talk) 17:22, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the compliment sir. And you are nice too. :) And by the way sir, my example was based on a Filipino context as I always hear it on TV or radio.--AR E N Z O Y 1 6A•t a l k• 17:59, 19 May 2013 (UTC)

- This should've been a technical move. No possible controversy. Red Slash 18:58, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
- Support and agree with RedSlash. The problem is pure technical. Dicklyon (talk) 19:35, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
- Support as per two comments above. In ictu oculi (talk) 19:44, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
- Comment: Articles on this person have been deleted multiple times (thus the salting of the proposed target). Are we sure this article fixes the problems previously found? Powers T 18:56, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
- Oh, is that it? I looked and saw that this page isn't actually move-protected... anyway, WP:AFD exists and people can use it to put this through AFD again, but it looks notable-ish to me. Red Slash 23:21, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
- The discussion Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bugoy Cariño was 2010. He's now got his own TV series and would now easily pass AfD. In ictu oculi (talk) 01:23, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
- Support; more accurate spelling. bobrayner (talk) 20:22, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
- Support; should not have been controversial, seems evident that the name is currently misspelt, let's put it right. Notability is a seperate issue. Ex nihil (talk) 04:44, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
