Alevi

[edit]

Aziz Nesin is an Alevi? I don't think so. He's a Crimean Tartar. Alevism didn't spread to Crimea as far as I know.

No; He's an atheist as he mentioned many times.Kerem Özcan 21:56, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The festival in Sivas was an Alevi cultural festival, but participation was not limited to Alevis. Jd2718 01:50, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I know, Aziz Nesin is an atheist. You can say that just by reading his books. He mocks god. 81.214.105.119 13:15, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There is a thin line between Atheism and Alevism; believe it or not. Some who claim to be Alevi don't even believe in god which implies that the term Alevism is synonym of Atheism. But the majority of Alevis does actually believe in god, whether you call it Islamic, Zoroastrian or Shamanism. That's why a source stating his religion could be clearing up the issue. Here is a source about Nesin being an Atheist. I'm too lazy to add it though. By the way I never heard of Alevis not believing in god. It's rather a sunni perception/interpretation of Alevism. Kerem Özcan 00:46, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Who says he is alevi? He used to preach in Ulucami Bursa during his exile, also another note, he was invited to a conference German alevis gathered, he flew from istanbul just to say one sentence " 1500 years ago yezid and Hussein fought and now you are continuing that fight, shame on you" and left the hall. He was against alevis as he was against sunnies, and he showed his respect to their belief system. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Doganaktas (talkcontribs) 20:56, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Origines of the name Nusret

[edit]

On the subject of the origins of the name Nusret i see that someone has already written that the name comes from a name given to a bear. Reading his autobiography Memoirs of an Exile i found this extract: "They named me Nusret. In Turkish, this Arabic word means 'God's Help.' It was a name entirely fitting to us because my family, destitute of any other hope, placed all their hope in God."[1] I've added the info together with its reference.

Since i dont speak turkish , i dont know if the first line, about the relationship of the name with the word for the bear, is right. Anyone can help?-Blue cave 13:22, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

can you make it clear blue wave? i didnt understand what you mean.

Birth place

[edit]

I was under the impresion he was born on Heybeli Island... oh yea Heybeli Island is in Istanbul, i'm going to include it in his article --Armanalp 13:46, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Aziz Nesin was only...

[edit]

the champion of Turkish people, he spent most of his life in prison just because he wanted good for his neighbours(turkish people), no one can claim he was a socialist or nationalist terrorist, he mocks with "Nesin"(=what are you?) and asks that to himself. Good for him that he didnt see Turkey today, all of his humor was in fact his sadness, which made him a great writer. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Doganaktas (talkcontribs) 21:05, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tatarness is not important

[edit]

According to Edward Allworth, "...have no sense of or interest in being Crimean Tatars, even though in some cases their names clearly imply a Tatar background" (Edward Allworth, The Tatars of Crimea: return to the homeland : studies and documents, ISBN13 978-0-8223-1994-8, p. 328.) So Tatarness is not important. Takabeg (talk) 19:08, 14 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not referring specifically him in terms of his last name, but to many Turkish celebrities etc. as a whole. However he clearly mentions him being member of the community. Please read more carefully. The Night and the Silent Water (talk) 13:33, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There is an RfC on the question of using "Religion: None" vs. "Religion: None (atheist)" in the infobox on this and other similar pages.

The RfC is at Template talk:Infobox person#RfC: Religion infobox entries for individuals that have no religion.

Please help us determine consensus on this issue. --Guy Macon (talk) 19:54, 23 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
