Why does no one know this woman's birthday?

Atlantis

[edit]

Dose anyone know why she is leaving stargate? -- Awar 17:04, 29 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

The producers decided to get rid of the Weir character. This was not by her choice. She was offered the option of leaving the show for good or go to recurring with options for future guest spots. This is from Stargate Magazine. Enigma3542002 05:10, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Torri chose to have a recurring role in the continuing SG-A series. She appeared in the 2 episodes just aired, and will appear in a promised 2 more this season. Then, who knows. Enigma3542002 05:11, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Picture

[edit]

Why can't we use this picture on her profile, if it can be used at the SG-A page? Am I missing something? Themalau 05:12, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. Fair use pictures are not allowed in articles about actors, as it is perfectly possible to obtain a free image which shows what an actor looks like. However, as it isn't going to be possible to obtain a free image of Higginson as Weir, such fair-use images are allowed in articles about the character and series. Hope this helps. --Pak21 08:49, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unsure as to how to add extra filmography

[edit]

Hello,

I just finally got my Wiki account approved today, and while I've quickly glanced at the 'edit' instructions, they're a little confusing to me. Plus, I'm not sure in what category to add the filmography reference, since it's a miniseries that appeared both on television and in DVD sales.

My husband noticed it on Sunday night -- Torri Higginson plays a character in the Canada: A People's History (unsure if that's the exact way to type it) series. I can find out more about her appearances (which set in the series, which disks, etc.) if necessary. However, I'd like that information to be added to the main article page.

Any advice?

Thanks.--Nlemie (talk) 08:11, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! I'm kind of new to Wikipedia myself, so I tend to look at how other pages are constructed, and then do some careful cut, paste and edit to recreate similar sections on other pages. Not sure if that's right, but hey. I shall add this as a basic bit under TV appearances, and you can take a look and then add what you like! Thanks for the input :) Fififolle (talk) 19:20, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Personal Life

[edit]

How can she be married to Nicole de Boer? Nicole de Boer is stated on Wiki and IMDB as being married to a "John Kastner". Some fanboy/girl wet dream? I'm removing the reference pending any evidence to support this. Mongoletsi (talk) 23:28, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've just realised how badly I misread that! Mongoletsi (talk) 23:29, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

don't worry, it is very badly written the way it is now. Not relivant who the man is married to now, if it is not Higginson —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.20.194.162 (talk) 22:26, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Image Removal

[edit]

I agree with User:Liser67's removal of the more recent Tori Higginson image (File:Torri Higginson 2014 (cropped).jpg). The image is both unflattering and jarring. As there is another free image available I can't see any reason why we need to use the one that the subject apparently objects to. This is a BLP, and the image is contentious; there needs to be some consensus that the 2014 image should be used before it's restored. Restoring the contentious image with the flippant and shouty edit summary "Torri does NOT OWN this page" does nothing to improve the encyclopedia nor Wikipedia's relationship with BLP subjects. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 16:35, 18 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The new image is of a very high and better quality, if User:Liser67 is acting on behalf of Torri, she should be able to get her a new picture via OTRS but she didn't..it was restored to the small and crappy 7 year old image, Ponyo, you should know better unless Liser was "paid" to make that edit and you supported that edit..what does it make you?..I see nothing wrong with the new picture, people get OLD and UNFLATTERING, deal with it!..what next, replace the 2007 image with a one where she looked 'desirable' 2 decades ago.. ?--Stemoc (talk) 01:55, 19 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
What does it make me? It makes me an editor who believes in and upholds the very principle of WP:BLP. Adding a far inferior image (larger does not always equal better as you imply) that is embarrassing to the subject solely because it's available is a horrible position to take. You admit that the image is unflattering (inexplicably IN BOLD even), and restoring it knowing it's extremely unflattering and that the subject is upset by it is a BLP issue. There is no harm whatsoever in using the current (older) free image until an acceptable replacement is found. There is consensus for the smaller image; if you would like to seek a broader consensus you can raise the issue at WP:BLPN. Liser67, if Ms Higginson would like to donate an image for which she holds the copyright there are instructions for doing so here. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 17:57, 21 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I am a makeup artist who worked last week with Torri. She and several other actresses were speaking about their Wikipedia pictures and not being overly fond of them. She pulled up hers and got gasps all around and complete agreement that it was ridiculous. She then asked if anyone knew how to change it. I said I would look into it. I was not paid to do anything, it was a kindness done for a very kind person. The picture was not at all representative of her with or without makeup. What purpose does it serve to insist on keeping it? Is there some personal vendetta? A spurned fan perhaps? I would have posted a picture from last week as I took many for continuity purposes but, as a new user, I do not yet have that ability apparently. I will happily do so once I'm able. Liser67 (talk) 03:13, 19 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
no one is fond of their wikipedia images, I know that more than most people and work hard to replace them with good 'free 'images even getting celebrities to change their pics via social media. I'm neither a fan nor a follower, if you have taken pictures, then feel free to upload them here or commons and if they are "good" enough, it would be used on her page..new users can directly upload images to commons..--Stemoc (talk) 04:39, 19 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
"no one is fond of their wikipedia images" is an unsupported and false statement. I've worked with hundreds of BLP subjects and their representatives via WP:OTRS and very rarely is the image used in their article raised as contentious. The exceptions have been when the image has been misidentified or are copyright violations. No one is saying that the work you do is unappreciated, only that this particular image goes beyond unflattering and that the alternative free image should be used until a more acceptable and less jarring image is available to replace it.--Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 17:57, 21 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Higginson's 200 Anniversary

[edit]

This summer August 11 to 13 in Vankleek Hill Hawkesbury régions there is a 200 anniversary Of the first Higginson that arrived in Canada was wondering if i could have Tori e-mail so i could forward her the information? Manon Higginson (talk) 22:34, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Manon Higginson Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a means of contacting article subjects. You will likely have more success if you attempt to contact her through her management team (or perhaps her Twitter account).--Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 22:47, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
