Christopher Billopp

Hi! Thanks for your edit on Christopher Billopp (Royal Navy officer). I think you did really well! Just a note from my side: make sure to add inline citations (see Wikipedia:Inline citation) to support your statements. While there is no "one citation per paragraph" or "one citation per sentence" rule, you will find that most good articles include such references to make it easier for other editors to verify the statements. I would suggest to add a reference for the first paragraph, as well as for the last sentence in the second paragraph you added. I assume you have those references available, it's just a matter of citing them. Keep up the good work! Broc (talk) 11:51, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks mate!
I'll try to find some citations on the paragraph :D, and again thanks a million for your feed back!

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Suzuki Bolan, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Haripur. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Speedy deletion nomination of Montecarlo Rascasse

Hello Arotparaarms,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Montecarlo Rascasse for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source, probably infringing copyright.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

No worries mate!
I respect your opinion, just need a few minutes to re-write,
Thanks! Arotparaarms (talk) 19:48, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Suzuki Bolan,Feb 2024.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a copyright violation and has no credible claim of fair use or permission. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Control copyright icon Hello Arotparaarms! While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 22:21, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Whpq I didn't pull this image from the website in question, I believe it doesn't violate copyright. though I might be Wrong...
Cheers, Arotparaarms (talk) 13:18, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Why do you think it does not violate copyright? As far as I can tell, you have just grabbed an image you found on a web site and then declared it to be public domain without any proof. Note that publicly accessible does not mean it is public domain. -- Whpq (talk) 13:29, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for pointing out my mistake mate!

Hi there, I saw your article and I think it's a good starting point. However, I'm a bit confused by the fact you added maintenance tags to the page. It's unlikely other editors will fix sourcing issues with your article, especially if it's about a niche topic, so the best solution is to fix them yourself!

If you find adding references complicated and tedious, there is a very nice tool that can help you: Citer tool: you paste the URL and get the filled-in {{cite web}} as output, which you can paste in the article directly. A Google search will give plenty of results you can use for your article. Just make sure they are reliable sources.

Let me know if I can help you further, I know editing Wikipedia can be daunting at first :) Broc (talk) 17:49, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!,
I added maintenance tags just for reference though I'm mostly going to edit the article myself as its too niche...
I just decided to add them for clarification.
Thanks mate!
Cheers, Arotparaarms (talk) 18:02, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You should generally aim to create articles that do not need maintenance tags :)
If you are working on an article and it's not ready to go live, I strongly recommend you to use your sandbox. Once the article is ready, you can use the "move" button to move the article in the main namespace. Your edit history will be preserved but you can work on your pages in peace until they are at a good quality level and ready to be seen by everyone.
I'm doing it myself here, to give you an example. Broc (talk) 18:07, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a million mate!
I'm just going to add a stub heading add continue editing, Thanks a lot again! Arotparaarms (talk) 18:16, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I saw you changed the article from American to British spelling. Please have a look at MOS:TIES. You should use American English in an article about California. On pages with no national ties, you can use whichever variant of English you prefer. Thanks, and happy editing! Broc (talk) 18:14, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry! I got an extension, and since I set it to English(Australia) it automatically changes everything to british/Australian English and I didn't mean to do it on purpose! Arotparaarms (talk) 18:18, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Cyrus family tree requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hi @Cocobb8! It's just a family tree like this one Achaemenid_family_tree, I did this as I was editing:Darius The Great and thought it might be better to link 'house of Cyrus' to that page, I highly value your opinion and I'm going to copy the code and try to make it better and re-publish it or contest its deletion.
Thanks for pointing out my mistake!
Cheers, Arotparaarms (talk) 23:28, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm ok. For now, I have moved the article to a draft again. When you feel it is ready, I suggest submitting it to WP:AFC so that an experienced editor can check it before it is published. I hope that helps! Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions :-) Cocobb8 (💬 talk • ✏️ contribs) 23:37, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Cocobb8! I copied it to here: Draft:Cyrus_Family_Tree, I will try to improve it, and then re-publish it.

Would you mind using https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Cyrus_family_tree instead? It looks like we got duplicate drafts now... I will see what I can do to get the other one deleted. Cocobb8 (💬 talk • ✏️ contribs) 23:42, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've tagged the duplicate article with a speedy deletion, so it should get deleted very soon. Cocobb8 (💬 talk • ✏️ contribs) 23:44, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm working on it starting now!
