List of animal names

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by 216.185.84.246 (talk) at 15:39, 13 October 2007 (→‎Formal names: hahaha). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

This lists various names animals can have. There are often multiple names that can apply in each situation. Many species of animals, particularly those domesticated, have been given specific names for the male, the female, and the young of the species. There are a few generic terms, "bull-cow-calf", for instance, that are found across species, but many species have been granted unique names for these gender/age characteristics. Empty table cells indicate incomplete data, and should not be interpreted to mean that the animal does not have a specific name of that type.
