Wikipedia:Requests for history merge/Archive 1
This page was originally for listing cut and paste moves which could not be repaired due to a then-extant technical limitation. The limitation has since been removed, but this page is still available if you find a cut-and-paste move, and are not able to repair it yourself (There is a procedure for doing it, but 1. only admins can do it, and 2. it's a bit tricky).
Currently the only technical limitation is that category and image description pages can't be moved.
Admins: please read Wikipedia:How to fix cut-and-paste moves and Wikipedia:Moving guidelines for administrators.
The procedure
- Place a {{db-histmerge|NAME OF PAGE THE ARTICLE WAS CUT FROM}} template at the new location of the article which has been moved through cut and pasting, i.e. on the article where the pasting was done.
- If the issue is clear-cut (straight up cut and paste move to a better title), having this speedy delete tag on the page should be enough. In more complex cases (explained at Wikipedia:How to fix cut and paste moves), please leave a description of the problem under the "Repair requests" section.
- An admin will look the pages over and perform whatever tasks are necessary.
- Once this is done, the admin will post the result here.
- Old requests will be removed after 30 days.
Repair requests
Please add new requests to the top of the New Requests section. Thanks.

- Chiropractic school → Chiropractic schools - On 22 October 2006, Chiropractic school was cut and pasted to Chiropractic schools. Unfortunately, this is not that simple. On 23 March 2007, Chiropractic schools was then copied back to Chiropractic school and there were two parallel articles until 26 November 2007, when Chiropractic school was redirected back to Chiropractic schools. During the time of parallel articles, no new content was added to Chiropractic school; however the edits made that should not be merged with the main article, since the main article did have significant modifications. My suggestion would be to delete the edits to Chiropractic school made after 23 March 2007, and then merge the two articles. --Scott Alter 08:04, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- Done, but I thought that Wikipedia rules would specify the singular. (The edits made to Chiropractic school after the cut and-paste are in still Chiropractic school.) Anthony Appleyard (talk) 08:43, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- I agree that the current title of the article is appropriate. Someone tagged Chiropractic education recently for merger with Chiropractic schools. There have been no comments so far, but I have just started a discussion at Talk:Chiropractic education. If they want to merge the articles, I'd recommend keeping Chiropractic education and renaming Chiropractic schools to List of chiropractic schools. I'll stay involved with these articles and make sure the plural Chiropractic schools is renamed to something appropriate per the MOS. --Scott Alter 08:53, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

- The June 1, 2007 edits and earlier of Dover 200 need to be moved to RoadLoans.com 200. From June 8th on it was rewritten into a different article and duplicated what was already at Dover 200 (Spring Race). Reposted -- Cmjc80 (talk) 01:15, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- Pages RoadLoans.com 200 and Dover 200 (Spring Race) give different winners for the same years, as if these two are different concurrent race serieses and not as the disambig page Dover 200 says. I better leave this to someone who knows more than me about USA car racing. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 14:36, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- There are two 200 mile NASCAR races at Dover each year. The problem is, the "Dover 200" name was moved from one race to the other in 2007. After the c/p move the Dover 200 page was rewritten into a page that already existed. -- Cmjc80 (talk) 20:08, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- But pages RoadLoans.com 200 and Dover 200 (Spring Race) still give different winners for the same years. Someone please explain why. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 20:12, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- Two different races, one takes place in May, the other in September. Here is the schedule: http://www.nascar.com/races/bg/2008/data/schedule.html 20:49, 18 February 2008 User:Cmjc80
- In both pages the last race listed is 2007. What belongs with what belongs with what? Were the names of the two races swopped? Whatever happened, describe it on those pages. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 22:34, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- Both pages are correct, the only issue is that the June 1 c/p move by Gaeaman787 needs to be fixed -- Cmjc80 (talk) 19:08, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

- Battery electric vehicle -> Electric car. The vast bulk of content was copy/pasted to electric car. The BEV article is left very stubby with more structure than content. Vassyana (talk) 23:36, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
- Not all battery-electric vehicles are cars. Leave it as it is? Anthony Appleyard (talk) 14:36, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- Heavens no - the BEV article only has a few edits, starting with,[1] the electric car article goes back to July 2005, and needs to have the discussion and history moved. This is the first edit for the to do page and refers to the BEV article.[2] I have been pretty much avoiding both articles until the mess gets cleaned up. 199.125.109.105 (talk) 20:57, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- There is only one edit to Talk:Electric car that has to be merged in after moving talk:Battery electric vehicle to talk:Electric car, and I do not see any edits to talk:battery electric vehicle at all, although there is a todo page for both articles. 199.125.109.29 (talk) 19:35, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
- Sprint Corporation->Sprint Nextel Cut/paste moved on August 12 2005. Leave the post Aug 12 edits(redirects and vandalism) at Sprint Corporation. -- Cmjc80 (talk)
- This one should not be done. The Sprint Nextel article was based upon Sprint Corporation, but also an older version of Sprint Nextel that existed before August 2005. These versions were inadvertently deleted in a previous merge and never restored. I have restored them, so now one can see that the two articles existed simultaneously and were edited apart from each other before 14 Aug, 2005. Therefore, these separate threads should not be merged together. Very good catch. I've been impressed with your finds. Cool Hand Luke 07:42, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

- "The Ruptured Duck (B-25)" and "Ruptured Duck (aircraft)" - request merge page histories. Snowman (talk) 11:29, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- I was merging it when (dang!) I realized that the new page creation wasn't a cut&paste move. The new content of The Ruptured Duck (B-25) isn't a copy of what was at Ruptured Duck (aircraft) before the redirection, so the history of these two pages need to exist independently. Not done. --PeaceNT (talk) 12:14, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- Venus Doom Live (history) needs to be merged with Digital Versatile Doom (history). Venus Doom Live is a redirect to Digital Versatile Doom. Digital Versatile Doom is the correct name for the article, but Venus Doom Live was created before Digital Versatile Doom was. — Save_Us † 00:09, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- The supposed cut-and-paste move would be from http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Venus_Doom_Live&oldid=188531190 to http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Digital_Versatile_Doom&oldid=188655341 , but these two are so unlike that I suspect that they are independent creations. Venus Doom Live was not changed to a redirect until after Digital Versatile Doom had been edited many times. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 07:07, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- Holistic Information Security Practitioner needs the history of Health Information Systems Programme prior to January 2008. Thanks. CIreland (talk) 01:48, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- In this case, I think we should leave the history where it is. The older edits of Health Information Systems Programme include both topics, so this history would be appropriate at either article. The earliest edits refer only to Health Information Systems Programme, so the history should remain there. I'll add a talk page note on Holistic Information Security Practitioner noting where its history comes from. Cool Hand Luke 06:29, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

- History merge looks inappropriate to me. They are the same network and should be merged, but the Tru TV article was re-written from scratch and has a different history. Cool Hand Luke 04:27, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- The page was supposed to be moved and rewritten on the new page. Why do you want to loose 4 years of edit history to a redirect page? Even the editor that made the new page(Mr. Senseless) agrees it was the incorrect thing to do Talk:TruTV -- Cmjc80 (talk) 04:42, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

- The June 28 2005-Earlier history of Nextel and June 28-Aug 12 history of NEXTEL should be merged with Nextel Communications. - A while back I tried to rename "HMNZS Taranaki (F-148)" "HMNZS Taranaki (F148)" with a cut and paste. Realizing my mistake I restored the text on the original (F-148) page and tried to free the (F148) page by redirecting it to "HMNZS Taranaki (to delete)". I then tried to move "HMNZS Taranaki (F-148)" to "HMNZS Taranaki (F148)", but it wouldn't let me. I guess the "HMNZS Taranaki (F148)" page needs to be deleted first, but I don't know how to do that.
