Subpages

Hello, sir. I saw your note of Scepia's page to leave messages for him here. I need his to create a subpage for {{User:Scepia/cvg-N}} (that's obviously wrong I know), so in other words native to gaming. Any comments feel free to contact me, and yes I know the links below are a redirect circle.--Chris Wattson (talk) 19:13, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If he ever returns, I doubt he would have a problem with it - go for it. –xeno (talk) 19:43, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
His contribs show a blatant Special:Contributions/Andy_Bjornovich sock. Tombomp (talk/contribs) 18:38, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hrm I guess I don't see it –xeno (talk) 18:41, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Interest in languages and claim to know 25 languages (Andy Bjornovich had about that many babel boxes on his user page), silly comments, no article edits, instantly finding your talk page, being an idiot with his talk page, a similar writing style. I guess it's hard to say for sure with so few edits. Tombomp (talk/contribs) 18:45, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Also ridiculously long name and a claim to have "aspergers" [1] as well as an interest in poor quality British TV. It's not a big deal, maybe he'll be a constructive contributor this time?? Tombomp (talk/contribs) 20:35, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Plus CMAMJW appears two days after AZPPB was blocked and he shows a degree of knowledge way above what a new user would know. Hmmm. RlevseTalk 19:54, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and he also admits on his userpage to using an IP he previously used to edit his user page while blocked [2]. Maybe I should make an SSP case at some point.Tombomp (talk/contribs) 20:10, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Andy says he has "aspergers" here Tombomp (talk/contribs) 21:15, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This same odd spelling of "aspergers" by both of them locks this up. I've indef'd Chris Wattson. RlevseTalk 21:46, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There also is a fixation with Pi[3][4], using "Hello, sir" to begin posts, redirects of talk pages,[5][6] user names composed of only letters,[7][8] Claiming to speak about 20-25 languages and requests for "Smith" translation into Ukrainian,[9][10][11][12][13] He hinted about his geographic location in a place were someone might see it[14], then alluded to being blocked under another account[15], then gave a bigger hint[16], and a bigger hint,[17], and then an obvious hint.[18]. -- Suntag 23:03, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I'd like to admit to two sockpuppets. User talk:212.85.13.143 and User talk:212.159.64.14. Andy Bjornovich (talk) (contributions) (email) 17:46, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, definitely another sock alright! The reverting because "I don't want to blow my cover" while admitting it on another talk page is pretty typical of his timewasting behaviour. Tombomp (talk/contribs) 19:39, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RfC on conduct of User:Abd, comment requested

Thank you for expressing interest at User:Abd/RfC/Proxy Table in my standing userspace RfC. The first questions to be addressed are at User:Abd/RfC/8.11.08 block, which is a page for the questions and (later) a summary of consensus. Comments and discussion have been begun, by me, at User talk:Abd/RfC/8.11.08 block. Because the first questions address the warning issued to me by Jehochman before the block on 8/11, and should not involve extensive research, I have several times asked Jehochman to comment, but he has declined so far. I have also asked Carcharoth, as suggested by Jehochman, to look at it, but so far he hasn't found time; perhaps he will in the next few days. If you are able to look at the pages ref'd above, and comment regarding the questions, or otherwise as you see fit, it would be appreciated. I am waiting to see if these questions can be resolved and a preliminary consensus found, without going to a wider forum, such as the Village Pump, AN, or a standard user RfC. Thanks for any time you can give this. --Abd (talk) 21:10, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

People should not become involved in this user-controlled RFC - we have an RFC process, Abd has so far found nobody willing to become involved in his illegitimate version of the process. You should tell him (as everyone else has over the last month of him spamming people) that you will be happy to be involved in a real community controlled RFC, not his sham version. He wants to use the results of it to attack a number of dedicated administrators. It could be harmful to your standing as an editor to be seen to be involved in such an attack page. Send him a clear message instead - set up a real RFC. --87.115.22.127 (talk) 21:34, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm really only opening myself up for direct queries about my involvement, including my unblocking of Abd, so, I don't really see this as a problem. Open a proper RFC? No thank you! =) –xeno (talk) 02:46, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Xeno. You've been honored by a visit from Fredrick day. He's quick. The notice above was given to the four users who expressed interest as described, as usual, within minutes, Fred shows up. He's obviously very active, as he claims elsewhere.--Abd (talk) 05:30, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Help needed

Please look into this anon IP address 64.53.154.63 (talk). Despite repeated warnings to him/her, as to not disrupt the integrity and well being of Wikipedia, he/she has struck again in the page of Talk: Singapore adding such controversial statement into this section (the statement is highly controversial as it is baseless accusation of Chinese Communist committing such criminal act in Singapore without us knowing, given that Singapore's position has always been anti-communist since it's independence) without providing any relevant sources or solid proof to back up his/her highly controversial statement. Previously, I had requested the main article for semi-protection due to several repeat vandalism from anon IPs but this is a first time for me to request this for the discussion page, and I shudder to think of it as this might hinder other anon IP users from making useful contribution here. So, is it possible to ask for the above-mentioned anon IP to be banned from editing without first logging in? --Dave1185 (talk) 18:52, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please ban this IP

Hey there Xeno, long time no see. Please ban [21] that IP. He/she continues to vandalise the page, Modern musical symbols. Despite repeated warnings, he/she just isn't stopping. I think a ban would be appropriate now. Must have rollbacked the edits about 5-6 times. Thanks, A Prodigy Sign Here/Contact 10:01, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well I've submitted a report there as well now, thanks for the link. Had to rollback two more times since, this is just getting boring and more tiresome. I wish it would stop... A Prodigy Sign Here/Contact 10:17, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

remember you can always tag an article {{underconstruction}} or {{inuse}} if you're worried about other people editing an article or just use a Sandbox or even 'notepad' Lympathy Talk 16:01, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

User:Abyssal needs his talk to be moved to User talk:Abyssal instead of User talk:Abyssalrenamehold. I can't do it because of a redirect. I think it needs an Admin to do it. Lympathy Talk 17:44, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of request for deletion of editor Xeno :)

Xeno, the editor you are, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that you satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space. Your opinions on yourself are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at User:GlassCobra/Editor for deletion#Xeno and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit during the discussion but should not remove the nomination (unless you wish not to participate); such removal will not end the deletion discussion (actually it will). No, sorry - I had not noticed it as I've been busy with other projects. I commented there (multi-edit diff, disregard the bit by FayssalF that came in the middle). It is a sincere offer to resume our adoption relationship in a mentorship capacity, but I do think you need to stay away from the noticeboards, either voluntarily or by topic ban. –xeno (talk) 07:10, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I agree that I need to stay away from anything that is WP:A*, WP:A** or WP:RFAR. As for mentoring I'm yet to decide who I will better relate to as i have recieved 3 offers from outstanding editors (you of which are one of them)   «l| Ψrom3th3ăn ™|l»  (talk) 11:50, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

help with an adoption matter

Hi I notice (though I know you say you are quite busy at the mo) that you are often active in WP:ADOPT matters. I don't know if you would be the right person, but I have specific needs with regards to one of my adoptees. User:903M almost always edits while I'm asleep (I'm in the UK, but a night owl.) So I wake up and any problems they've been in may have escalated to AN/I, or led to a block etc. I love adopting 903M and don't want to stop being their adopter, I feel they're finally making some progress, but I need someone else who happens to be awake at the same time as them, to keep an eye on them and intervene sometimes if need be. She often edits most actively between 03:00- 10:00 GMT/UTC to give a large window. I don't know who's up at that time that you can suggest? Sticky Parkin 15:04, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am user 903M. I am open to being adopted. Here is my assessment:

Whom I seek: Someone who knows a lot, both about the world and also about Wikipedia. Someone who has an analytical mind and is willing to consider things. A hothead is not whom I seek.

Self analysis: I am also well versed in several subjects. I have a sense of right and wrong and seek right. Sometimes, this can get me into trouble. For example, I am very interested in a scholarly Wikipedia but I am opposed to plagiarism and improper use of images. The use of images caused conflict about 30 hours ago. I tend to be very polite and considerate. A hothead, I'm not. I also have a sense of fairness and justice. If I see someone mistreated in Wikipedia or in life, I don't like. At times, I have insisted on a rule in Wikipedia too much. I understand the concept of IAR (ignore all rules) but I think that was more suited for when Wikipedia was small and new. There are many times that I've thought of being bold and bending a rule but I haven't because I think Wikipedia is now large, established, and not the right place for earth shaking events.

Types of edits that I might do: New articles on deserving subjects, critically examining articles and trying to make them more fair, better written, improvement of highly technical articles (not done much yet), trying to fix common articles and maybe adding a fact. 903M (talk) 06:24, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sticky has been very helpful. Another wise adopter would be appreciated. A quick look at you leads me to believe you are wise. Sticky suggested you name. I ask to take me under your wing. 903M (talk) 06:24, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't mean to suggest you, just because I know you think you're not that active right now. User:Kotra suggested User:Bookkeeperoftheoccult. Sticky Parkin 21:46, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
A quick perusal of the adopter's list shows Tanthalas39 (talk · contribs), Useight (talk · contribs) and Master of Puppets (talk · contribs), all admins whose judgment I respect and I think they're all in N.A. (not sure about MoP). I don't think I'd be the best choice as you can see from another thread on this page one of my past adoptees was at AN/I and I didn't even get around to that thread until after all the dealing had been done... =\ Best of luck. –xenowiki (talk) 17:01, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Adminhelp and admin dashboards

Yo, sorry to bother you, and I know no-one really uses it except from me, but Category:Wikipedians looking for help from administrators has had a request up for over a week with no sign of an admin. The request doesn't seem to difficult or controversial, so I am wondering if there is something wrong on the technical side of things and thought to ask you. Are the dashboards working effectively do you know? Does the category need to be in Category:Administrative backlog? Gracias, the skomorokh 14:36, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The dashboard (at least the original {{admin dashboard}}) shows the open request, not sure why nobody has responded to it. Try WP:AN/K maybe? I've lost my cookies and forgotten my password so I can't login at work. Haven't sorted that yet =) –xenowiki (talk) 16:56, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Muchas gracias, hombres. Does anyone know if it's possible to have a bot add a message to an admin IRC channel when a user deploys {{Adminhelp}}? You know, like the Bat signal? "Attention admins, please temporarily cease cybering and plotting to ban Kurt Weber - User talk:Example needs your help!" Apparently there was something similar for Category:Wikipedians looking for help. the skomorokh 17:38, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sure this is possible but neither Keeper, nor I, want anything to do with IRC =) –xenowiki (talk) 19:15, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
