Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is an upcoming video game being developed by EA's Bright Light Studio and published by Electronic Arts. The game will be released on June 30, 2009, to coincide with the film's new mid-2009 release date.[4]The game will be released on Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Wii, Xbox 360, and Mobile platforms. [5]

Game Overview

Return to Hogwarts to help Harry survive his sixth year . You will have a chance to engage in exciting wizard duels, mix magical ingredients in potion class and take to the air.

Gameplay

Half-Blood Prince will feature the exploration of Hogwarts and casting spells on objects around the school, similar to its predecessor Order of the Phoenix [2]. The game will also include multiplayer games, classes, different times of day, Quidditch, Wizard Duels and Potion making [6].

Platform-specific elements

The Wii version of the game will utilise the Wii Remote features as it did in the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix video game.[5] which will include brewing potions[7], wizard dueling[7] and Quidditch [8]. However, it will not support the new Wii MotionPlus technology which is scheduled for release in the same month. The Nintendo DS version will include mini-games such as Gobstones and Exploding Snap[9]. The game will once again utilise the Stylus for wizard duels, potion making and quidditch[10]. The Playstation 3 version will include Dualshock 3 vibration [11]. The Playstation 2, PC and Xbox 360 versions will utilise the same functions as with the previous game.

Plot

In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Dumbledore prepares Harry for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching as Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort's defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information.

Characters

The game will once again have most characters voiced by the cast of the film. So far it has been confirmed that the following actors will contribute their voices to the game for their characters:
