Reverting my edit on Watchmen characters

I understand that it was redirected a long time ago. I did not see a discussion regarding the merge. I did however see the AfD which was in favor of keeping. Therefore I am reverting it. I understand your merge was bold however I disagree with it so I am asking that you discuss it before reverting my edit. I gave my reason for keeping the article on the talk page of Characters in Watchmen. Thanks :) Valoem talk 16:43, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I was a little hestiant in reverting Ozymandias as he was not as main a character as the others however he has established notability by being featured in the forbes fictional 15. Also I never saw any consensus for the merge I tried searching on the talk page and AfD. Valoem talk 16:51, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a little confused I looked at the AfD and it looked like consensus was in favor of keeping those articles. Where was it discussed otherwise? It seems someone redirected and no one contested it (actually it looks like it was contested just not by established users). However, I am now contesting it, mainly because the characters are also featured in a film and a video game not just one comic book. I'm sure you would agree with me now right? :) Valoem talk 16:55, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your post on our edits on Ruby Gloom

How about I put the citation as "see Ruby Gloom skit titled 'Mr. Mummbles'. " Kagome 77 (talk) 11:03, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed it. The citation now says Ruby Gloom Skit: "The Mr. Mummbles How-to Show". This should work for that citation, since you should not link a youtube video to that, since the video may be taken down later on, due to copyright violations or other things. Please, do not revert back to the [soskpuppeteer's] version. We've discussed it on the talkpage with two other editors and agreed the article was a hoax and an obvious POV fork of another article. It's up for deletion anyway or maybe for a redirect to the actual article. It was me that removed that info and justified my removal. It wasn't me reverting you later (I'm not the annon), but there is no grounds on which such an imaginative work of fiction should be an article on Wikipedia. Thanks for the understanding. --Laveol T 07:30, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Jack page

Ok, well let me explain. Essentially, you're factually correct, what you're adding is true information. However, the sections you're adding it to are very short compact ones to summarily describe the character's history in the order it was revealed (sujet as opposed to fabula) and in minimal, essential detail. There is one line later on that discusses Jack's immortality works "either by resurrection or invulnerability" (with a citation to "Utopia" after the word invulnerability). That paragraph, mind, probably does need work but it's the only place in the article that the information should be discussed at length (although, very little length, at that). It's not essential for a reader who wants to know the character's history to know beyond the word "immortality".~ZytheTalk to me! 22:20, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

All I know is, Tan handed you a great setup and you knocked it out of the park. The issue now is how to semi-tactfully answer the question, "What does that mean?" although in normal English we would probably say it more like, "What's that supposed to mean?" Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots 03:27, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Leaving it for Tan to answer is probably the best thing, and only fair since he's the one who brought up the part about being a social leper, or whatever term it was that he used. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots 03:32, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, sorry about that. I took too long adding the tags, so by the time I made my edit the article had been recreated. So I tried to get a CSD template on, but nothing fit precisely. D: ZS 19:16, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've declined a speedy deletion tag you placed on the above-captioned article, but I wanted to say that I don't blame you for a moment for placing it; it was such a mess that I very nearly overlooked the assertion that the individual was a member of the Indian parliament myself (the equivalent of a state representative or senator in the US system). I'm going to tidy it up a bit. Accounting4Taste:talk 21:39, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I can't think of why I thought you were an American who needed to know what "Parliament" meant; we're fellow BCers, as I now note. I expect it would be a lot of trouble to come to Vancouver for a BC Wikipedian meet-up; we've only had one, and it didn't seem to be met with much enthusiasm. I know of only two other admins and one bureaucrat, and not very many regular editors like yourself. Anyway, pardon my assumption. Vandalism Reversion on NGS-NN

Greetings. I was reading through the Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding Newport News article and I noticed some additional vandalism by 74.231.186.104 that was apparently missed. This includes deletion of a significant portion of the history section. I was wondering, assuming you can, if you could possibly revert the page back to the 10/3/09 edit by TomNativeNewYorker? If not, could you please get in touch with someone who does? Hello HalfShadow, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I declined the speedy deletion of Hussain Bisad - a page you tagged - because: Not an unambiguous copyright infringement, or there is other content to save. Please review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging further pages. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. –Juliancolton | Talk 03:50, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've declined the deletion of the article, as it's salvageable and has a considerable history. I've rewritten it somewhat. It's an interesting phenomenon where it came to resemble the source article at Goodreads more and more closely. Acroterion (talk) 22:44, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

When nominating articles by newbies for speedy deletion, you may want to consider changing the {{nn-warn}} template to {{nn-welcome}}. It's a little less bitey, especially for AGF pages. Cheers! --SquidSK (1MClog) 17:48, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

RE:Donnelly

Winning some money off of a television gambling show doesn't give you sufficient notability. He has been in the press on three occasions 1) when he won the lottery 2) the way his life had been ruined by the fact that he had won it and 3) the fact he's dead. If somebody made an article for him, it would be deleted per violating Wikipedia's notability guidelines but still. And yes, I know that a lot of the people on the Recent Deaths page do not have Wikipedia pages, but Donnelly will not get one of his own, similarly to Joe Biden's mother who was listed yesterday, before being removed. If you readd him to the RD section, I won't remove him again but another user will. Do as you wish but please try and take the general opinion into perspective. Copyvios aren't in his MO, but believe me, the thought had occurred to me. I think that we've pretty much seen the last of Bambifan101 since we blocked his school IP and even Simple English, in need as they are of editors, initiated the same block range which we did. Definitely worth keeping an eye on this one, though. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 02:58, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You got that right. He remains the single strangest individual I've ever dealt with on this site. The little putz wore out his welcome by basically turning this site's generosity onto itself; his ranges were too big to block and he knew it. He finally pushed too far and three BellSouth ranges and a school are locked out. All of his pet articles are still locked out as well, which is a damn shame. If he were my kid, I wouldn't allow him near a computer until he turned 30. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 03:11, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good question. He's definitely on the top of the list. User:JarlaxleArtemis in his "Grawp" persona comes to mind, but a lot of the vandalism from that account was coordinated offsite by copycats. User:General Tojo is a pretty persistent individual as is User:Scibaby. The only really intelligent vandal I ever locked horns with was User:Wik under his socks, User:Gzornenplatz and User:NoPuzzleStranger which in turn was an anagram of the other sock. Bambifan was just plain clueless. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 00:18, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I caught that too. "False facts?" Man, some folks are just in need of other things to do on the internet.  :)) Thanks for the out-loud chuckle. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 02:59, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I noticed the large scale delete you made on the above page. Such action has been proposed in the past and discouraged, it's a sensitive topic and aslong as protests and replies are civil the general agreement is to keep the protests, they just end up getting archived (have a look through, there's a lot). I propose reinstating the content. raseaCtalk to me 17:11, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Never. Also, as far as I know, I'm the one that has proposed removal more often than any one else. However, the community would prefer they remain and so that's why I mentioned it. I don't agree with it but know that others do so that's why I've gone ahead and reinstated the content. raseaCtalk to me 17:22, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The material I added is licensed under CC-BY-SA just like wikipedia and was attributed in the edit history. Here is the licensing page http://www.wikia.com/wiki/Wikia:Licensing —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.241.122.38 (talk) 23:15, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is no rule that you can't post something you haven't written yourself. It is for example perfectly legal to post material written by the US government, which is under public domain. In fact a lot of content on wikipedia is from public domain sources. It is also legal to post content licensed under a licence which is compatible with Wikipedia's when it's attributed. 129.241.122.38 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 23:19, 30 January 2010 (UTC).[reply]

question

Will i get blocked if i add music lyrics to song pages?Halfwite|ρεβῼ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.45.99.75 (talk) 00:36, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

(I watch this page) Song lyrics are protected by copyright so may not be added in full to an article. Use of a lyric or two to illustrate something *may* be appropriate. If you add copyright material repeatedly you are likely to get blocked, after a warning. Not worth doing. -- Flyguy649 talk 01:07, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Will we get a warning first because i did that a couple hours ago.Witeinkρεβῼ 02:09, 5 February 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Witeink (talkcontribs)

Hey

I'm not "riding your edits". I guess we're just pushing the button at the same time. I have no way of knowing who reverted it first until after the fact. XXX antiuser eh? 21:54, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
