Adoption

Hi mono! Sounds great; how do we get started? :) ~Lewis1350 (talk) 12:45, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Let's start with the WikiMarkup tutorial.--mono 16:46, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, I should have said what level I'm at. >< I do know markup. :) I've also found my way through quite a bit of policy. I'm trying to get into actually editing, but I'm having trouble figuring out where to start. :\ ~Lewis1350 (talk) 19:31, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Cleanup and devandalization and behind-the-scenes things also look interesting. :D ~Lewis1350 (talk) 19:54, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Didn't know, however, great! Let's begin with the cleanup lesson. Read through it, ask any questions, and answer the evaluating questions. I'll look over any work; just let me know when you do it.--mono 23:41, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds great! I'll do it as soon as I finish my homework. Also, I just added your talk to my watchlist. :) ~Lewis1350 (talk) 00:02, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
O_o This is hard. :( I really don't know how or where to start with this... I can't even tell what category to look at to fix articles. ~Lewis1350 (talk) 03:04, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'll help you later today.-- 17:04, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
K! ~Lewis1350 (talk) 17:35, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So, any suggestions on just exactly what kind of cleanup to start with? ~Lewis1350 (talk) 02:13, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I changed B and D from list to prose. (Pretty much just took off the bullet points. It was history, so it read properly still.) ~Lewis1350 (talk) 04:28, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I reverted vandalism too! :) Olmsted Falls High School Did I do it right? ~Lewis1350 (talk) 04:35, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Just dropping by: you did it right! Good job warning the user; you should always do this. Happy editing, —Airplaneman— 22:32, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

@VerballyInsane- I see you changed names; you should update your sig. Good job on the vandalism! Diff(erence)s allow editors to compare edits; it would be better to link to here. I see you use Twinkle, which makes it easier. Nice job on the cleanup; (I love semicolons) it reads much better!.

Add: Check out some more scripts (if you like, no obligation) at this page/this page.--mono 23:48, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

@Airplaneman- Glad you liked my sig suggestion and I appreciate you tpsing.--mono 23:42, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Airplanman. Yeah, I changed names after posting those. :) I found out about Twinkle from your class on Vandalism. I also like Friendly. I have to agree: semicolons are awesome, but so are colons. Off to do some more cleanup, I think. I got my friend addicted to Wikipedia now, too. Yay! VerballyInsanet|c 00:06, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Glad to hear that!--mono 00:08, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In order to pass Vandalism 1.1 and 1.2, just answer these questions:
  1. What is vandalism?
  2. List 3 situations where a edit which could be considered vandalism, may not actually be vandalism.
  3. What are obvious indicators of a vandalism edit while watching recent changes?
  4. How do you revert vandalism?
  5. What warning template would you use if a user removed or blanked all the content from a page?
  6. What warning template would you use if a user add the words "i really hate wikipedia!" to an article?
  7. What warning template would you use if a user added the words "TEST...BLAH BLAH BLAH" to an article or talk page?
  8. How do you add an article to your watchlist?
  9. If you misuse tools such as Twinkle, what could happen?

and perform 5 reverts!--mono 00:33, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  1. What is vandalism?
Vadalism is any intentional misuse of editing rights.
  2. List 3 situations where a edit which could be considered vandalism, may not actually be vandalism.
    1. When a person does something to their own user page.
    2. When a person is just testing the wiki and don't realise that's it's wrong.
    3. When a person creates a page on a non-notable person.
  3. What are obvious indicators of a vandalism edit while watching recent changes?
Edit summaries that don't explain what changed or say things that indicate vandalism. Also, redlink users and IPs are more likely.
  4. How do you revert vandalism?
    Click "revert" or "undo".
  5. What warning template would you use if a user removed or blanked all the content from a page?
    uw-delete1
  6. What warning template would you use if a user add the words "i really hate wikipedia!" to an article?
    uw-vandalism1
  7. What warning template would you use if a user added the words "TEST...BLAH BLAH BLAH" to an article or talk page?
    uw-test1
  8. How do you add an article to your watchlist?
Click the star in the upper-right corner.
  9. If you misuse tools such as Twinkle, what could happen?
    You may be blocked! =O

VerballyInsanet|c 01:00, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Here are two reverts: Television advertisement and Randy Heflin. VerballyInsanet|c 01:40, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good job! As you can see, you received some awards!--mono 23:46, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
So, Twinkle and Friendly seem to work as gadgets, but when I try to use my scripts, none of them work. Any ideas? VerballyInsanet|c 21:18, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Misplaced apostrophe. >< VerballyInsanet|c 23:21, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Are they working now?--mono 23:46, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, they are! I love Lupin's anti-vandal tool. The filter recent changes link is awesome.
(edit conflict)%Lupin tool- I use it to [monitor my watchlist.
Last two reverts: Apusozoa and Baron Davis. VerballyInsanet|c 23:46, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
%Reverts- Signing on. BTW, great job!--mono 23:48, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Huh? VerballyInsanet|c 23:51, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Some users use a Twitter style discussion system (like with @ symbols and hashtags.--mono 23:55, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It was the "Signing on." part that confused me, actually. Oh, and Twitter is awesome. VerballyInsanet|c 00:04, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Whatever... (Sorry ~VI)
What lesson would you like to do next? (link)--mono 00:25, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Um, I don't know. I've read them all already, so what would you suggest? VerballyInsanet|c 00:34, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Any interest in templates? If not, copyright (probably not needed, however, and overview might be good), then deletion policies, then reviewing articles, then permissions, any other stuff you'd like, and graduation!--mono 00:39, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Templates sounds super-awesometacular. VerballyInsanet|c 00:41, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Templates are one of my fav things about Wikipedia! Seems like you know some stuff about them (the emoticons are templates) so look over the lesson, ask me any questions, make a quick template (it can be trivial), and take a look at the next template lesson.--mono 00:45, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I found the {t|{=)}} template from you using it. Also, do these userboxen count? I noticed you like templates. I've found some more from seeing how you use them. VerballyInsanet|c 00:49, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict)Ish... However, you should include elements in your template like {{{1}}} and {{{#if}}} from both lessons. Basically, userboxen are really simple templates. However, parameters allow customization in many ways. Continue to the advanced template lesson after you complete the first one.--mono 00:53, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Going offline.--mono 00:59, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The following is a template: User:VerballyInsane/TempTemp VerballyInsanet|c 01:07, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's {{User:VerballyInsane/TempTemp}} (Temporary Template) VerballyInsanet|c 00:35, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
lol. try incorporating elements from the second lesson, however, great job! I'll help you with the advanced part soon.--mono 00:40, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I did, actually. There's an #ifeq in there to determine whether the s in years should be shown. So that it just say User:VerballyInsane/TempTemp if you put in "1" (as I just did). VerballyInsanet|c 00:42, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict)Correction: You did do that! Whoops... Anyway, great job! --mono 00:45, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How about you attack this backlog?--mono 04:53, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Gmail Mobile: Stub-class. I think it could be merged into Gmail without a problem. The sources are all from Google. It is mostly about the various features of it, which doesn't seem all that encyclopedic when that is all the article has in it. Could use a History section or a Technology section to explain a little more about the actually service itself rather than what it can do for you. On that note, I <3 Google. VerballyInsanet|c 19:44, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Would Motorola Droid be of interest to WikiProject Google? —Preceding unsigned comment added by VerballyInsane (talkcontribs) 19:57, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Forgot to sine, User:SineBot got it. %Droid- Yes, it would, however, not too high on the importance scale.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Mono (talkcontribs)

Tehe.... VerballyInsanet|c 20:24, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Redtube: Stub. Not much content. It doesn't say much that's specific to the particular website. Good sources, though. VerballyInsanet|c 20:40, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
De-categorize that, please. Sorry, but that has nothing to do with Google!--mono 20:44, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Done I didn't think it did. I just randomly clicked it. lol. But I can still review it. :P VerballyInsanet|c 21:09, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding adoption

Hello Mono!

I registered here in wikipedia last 2008 hoping that I can add pages about our local and Asian information. To my dismay however, I found out that the wiki has its own language. I was turned off that time. I returned this 2010 because I realize this experience is worth learning for. I signed up for adoption and saw your offer! Please adopt me. :)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Sephcapaque[1] Sephcapaque (talk) 15:55, 31 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Great! By the way, welcome! I've already adopted you so I'll send you over to my classroom where you can pick a lesson! Let's start with the WikiMarkup lesson!--mono 23:54, 31 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure how exactly to do this but thank you. I'll be heading there now. --Sephcapaque (talk) 18:16, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Let me know if you need any help and post the assignment work here. Thank you, mono 05:00, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'd Just like to thank you.

I'd just like to thank you for Letting me join the Percy Jackson Task Force! Thank YOU!
- Tommader -\

You're WELCOME!--mono 23:35, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, saw this while NPPing. Have you considered a list of characters? I think that'd be better, since he's a supporting character. Airplaneman 00:29, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As for div-hiding the the article issue templates on The 39 Clues, you might want to consider condensing them into {{articleissues}}. That's what is usually done. Airplaneman 00:30, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict)I understand; working on the article. Trying to live up to the Percy Jackson standards; the character is important in the series.--mono 00:32, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine then :). I haven't read the 39 Clues, you see... still, you might want to consider a characters list. You might also want to create Category:The 39 Clues. I will help in the new Wikiproject; just tell me when! Airplaneman 00:34, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Task Force, actually. Soon, btw.--mono 00:36, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Too bonked to finish doing it; will try later.--mono 00:44, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm... I'll create User:Airplaneman/39 Clues Task Force to draft it up. When you want to, please drop by to help. Airplaneman 00:52, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'll be around tomorrow from about 4:30-6:00, my time (indicated by clock!).--mono 00:53, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: You Back?

I'm off-and-on with my editing: Hitting the wall so to speak. I have been busy with School and personal life right now, I'm updating my page today. By the way: I like the name change to Mono!Belugaboy Talk to Me! 02:35, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Me too.--mono 00:36, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You put this article up for a PR Wikipedia:Peer review/Google/archive4, and it has now been put up for a GAN, but I was wondering whether you intend to do some work on the article in the near future based on those comments. I don't want to put the article on hold unless I can see evidence that something will happen. Jhbuk (talk) 11:48, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'll do some work here&there, but I'm kind of busy right now. Do you think it'll pass as it is?--mono 00:33, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it's too far off, but it needs work, as was mentioned on the PR. Most of those points are fairly minor, but are still the sort of things I'd want sorting out before it's passed (dead links etc), although there are some more significant points that have been mentioned. I just don't really get the sense that it goes into enough detail about (at least the products of) one of the world's largest companies. Jhbuk (talk) 11:37, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Touch Pets Dogs

Hello, Mono. I assume Benp123456789 was you, since it redirects here. Anyway, I created Touch Pets Dogs, an article you requested at Wikipedia:WikiProject iPhone OS. UAA report

You recently reported User:LambertsGardens at UAA. While their name is certainly a violation, I notice you also left a note on their talk page about it. I really think you should pick one or the other, either discussion of the name or requesting that it be blocked. It seems kind of underhanded to engage in a discussion with a user while at the same time trying to get them blocked. I also noticed in your edit summary it mentioned it was automated edit. I wasn't aware there was a tool that would automatically make a UAA report, is a script or something? Beeblebrox (talk) 05:41, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WP:TW is the script. I see your point; I like to let the user know that there's an issue. I'm open to change, however!--mono 05:42, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
