Girl singer in Club Can't handle me right now

Who is the girl singing in Club Can't Handle Me by David Guetta, sounds like Katie Parry, then again, it sounds like the girl who voiced Dora on Danny Phantom, Nicole Scherzinger. Is it Katie or Nicky, or someone else? N.I.M. (talk) 05:18, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Billboard thinks it might be Ke$ha as she's previously been an uncredited featured artist on Flo Rida's work. See http://www.billboard.com/new-releases/flo-rida-feat-david-guetta-club-can-t-handle-1004108091.story#/new-releases/flo-rida-feat-david-guetta-club-can-t-handle-1004108091.story. Exxolon (talk) 15:36, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It is Nicole Scherzinger. Adam Bishop (talk) 15:37, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Source? Exxolon (talk) 15:54, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Google, and my ears :) I could be wrong, but it is not Katy Perry, at least. I'm not sure why this info is not all over the Internet, actually. Adam Bishop (talk) 16:08, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and it couldn't be Kesha, because whoever this is can carry a melody. Kesha can't do that, even with Autotune. Adam Bishop (talk) 16:09, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You might want to redact that statement about her singing or at least make clear it's a personal opinion - WP:BLP applies across the entire site. Google is coming up with results but no reliable sources supporting the Nicole theory. Exxolon (talk) 16:20, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Nicole Scherzinger's on Twitter, if anyone's got an account then they could ask her to confirm.--TammyMoet (talk) 17:45, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No way it kould be Ke$ha, the voice sounds different. The singer has a nicole scherzinger or Katy Perry-like voice, but it's not Katy Perry. Is it Nicole Scherzinger, or is there another singer with a voice just like Nicky's? N.I.M. (talk) 22:15, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is this a different version of this song than Club Can't Handle Me? -- kainaw 18:42, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, it's the david guetta song with Flo Rida. I'm wondering who the girl singing is. N.I.M. (talk) 03:27, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The song, "Club Can't Handle Me" is Flo Rida's song. It features David Guetta. Flo Rida's backup female singer is Kesha with Auto-Tune. If you really want to know who was physically in the studio, ask Flo Rida. Nobody here was present at the recording. -- kainaw 13:25, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, i'm going to do some comparisons with some voice actors and the singers' voices here, you can look it up if you don't know who i am talking about. Kesha has more of a Jennifer Hail voice, when the singer in Club Can't Handle Me has more of a Julie White or Susan Blakeslee type voice, or even a Carrie Kenny silver voice. no way it could be kesha. N.I.M. (talk) 00:50, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The person who sang on that is Carmen Key, she was also a co-writer on the song.

Soviet Union music recording certification - are there any???

Since nobody answer to my question, and if you know the answer, please reply here. I need it for this disco. It would be great if there would be a reliable soviet cert (even if I am skeptical about this). Thank you.-- ♫Greatorangepumpkin♫ T 12:08, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

We have Wikipedia:Manual of Style (record charts) which is a good resource for charts and certification information. But there isn't anything listed for the Soviet Union. Gangsters and Slappers

I recently got invited to a " Gangsters and Slappers" fancy dress party. I was too embarassed to ask " What is a "slapper"? Can someone tell me, and what is the correct form of costume? Thanks.... Confused —Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.217.144.132 (talk) 23:29, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

They may have meant flapper instead of slapper, which would make more sense given the gangster connection. 142.179.81.2 (talk) 23:54, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Slapper. The meaning intended is almost certainly a derogatory word used to express the speaker's view that a woman, or set of women, is sexually promicuous and both dresses and behaves in a way they disapprove of. It is part of slut-shaming. 86.163.0.221 (talk) 00:04, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This is more usually called a "Gangster and Moll" party - google that. Exxolon (talk) 02:19, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
As to the correct costume, as little as possible would be appropriate. DuncanHill (talk) 02:28, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Upload a link to the Bach page

Hi: I made a film on Bach and would like to put up a link on the Bach page.

My film is called BACH & friends. The two-hour documentary features Joshua Bell, Bobby McFerrin, Philip Glass, Béla Fleck, Hilary Hahn, Edgar Meyer, Simone Dinnerstein, Chris Thile, The Swingle Singers, Manuel Barrueco, Felix Hell, John Bayless, Matt Haimovitz, Peter Schickele, Richard Stoltzman, Jake Shimabukuro, Zuill Bailey and the Emerson String Quartet. These world-class Bach players share their innermost thoughts and personal reflections on the power and genius of Bach’s music and perform some of his greatest masterpieces.

Thanks,

a jar of peaches

This was asked on Project Wombat:

Background: 30 years ago I had a regular Saturday babysitting job. The local tv station played three, usually obscure, westerns in a row starting at 10:30 at night. Depending on how good a time the parents were having I'd see from 1/2 to 3 westerns each weekend. I have figured out what all of them were except one, which I only saw about 1/2 of.
What I remember of The Western: A man is on the run from jail or a posse or a chain gang. He is ill or shot and wearing shackles on his hands and, I believe, feet. He hides in the root cellar of a house where he is discovered by a young woman. Somehow a jar of peaches gets broken on the floor. She takes him upstairs to nurse him and it turns out she is the sheriff's daughter and he is in the sheriff's house. The sheriff comes home. A lynch mob forms outside the house demanding the prisoner be given over to them.
If anyone can give me the title I'd appreciate it. I'd like to know how it ends.

Reckon it can't hurt to relay the question here. —Tamfang (talk) 19:03, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have some memory of a similar movie. I think the man in question was a Clint Eastwood character, but I can't place the film. See Clint Eastwood filmography for a full list, and mayby look yourself. --Jayron32 19:40, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You can use it the same way as a normal hammer. The only differences are that you can wield it (freeing up an inventory spot) and you can do two special emotes using it. "Little Drummer Boy" by Eric Joy

Good Day:

I am becoming exasperated by my failure to find anyone who recalls the version of "Little Drummer Boy" by Eric Joy. All that I find is that it begins with the Harry Simione Choral (or whatever) and goes from there. But BEFORE their popular version of the song was Eric's. He must have been about 12 when he recorded it: the only version song by someone who actually could have been the Little Drummer Boy.

If you can find anything about this version (recorded between the late 50's and early 60's) and, in fact, allow me to hear it, I would be grateful.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

Doing a Google search under "Little Drummer Boy" "Eric Joy", I found that it existed on a 45 RPM record. As usual, however, when I follow any of the Google links, they take me to an updated page that no longer contains the info in question, very frustrating. Our Little Drummer Boy article says that it was written in 1941 and the Harry Simeone Chorale didn't record it until 1958, allowing a good 17 years for other versions. They even listed two earlier attempts, by the Trapp Family Singers and the Jack Halloran Singers. I also searched under the earlier name "Carol of the Drum". I've had difficulty finding any info on "Eric Joy". Perhaps that's not his real name ? It sounds suspiciously like a stage name for a Christmas album. French film

hi. A few years back I was in France and I saw an interesting film. The plot was somewhat reminiscent of How to Marry a Millionaire (starring Marilyn Monroe); a young, pretty woman is too vain to wear her glasses and can't see very well without them. That's the only thing I really remember, besides that this was a French film, not a dubbed version of an English film. Does anyone know what film this might have been? (BTW, guesses are fine, I would be just as interested in a similar film fitting this description) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.92.70.160 (talk) 18:45, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed. StuRat (talk) 06:48, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I feel the need to answer the question directly, because that article is short and poor. In addition to the definition in the article, the term "wholesale" is often short for "wholesale price", which is not defined by the article. When a company manufactures an item and sells it to a retailer, it is sold to the retailer at the "wholesale price". The retailer then sells the item to the public at the "retail price". The difference between the two prices depends on all sorts of things. In the US, a difference of 100% is, I believe, considered high (in which the manufacturer sells an item to retailers for, say, US$5.00, and the retailers sell the item to the public for US$10.00). Consumers usually can't buy items from manufacturers at the wholesale price because (a) the retailers all get angry at the manufacturers when they try such schemes, and (b) the "onesey-twosey" character of sales directly to the consumer generally isn't judged to be worth it to the manufacturer if they're only selling it to you at the wholesale price. They'd prefer to direct you to your local retail store to purchase the item (at the retail price). Comet Tuttle (talk) 20:30, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Let's Be Friends" song

I've been hearing a song on such stations as Movin' 99.7 recently. It starts out "Let's be friends", and then has a few other lines that rhyme with "friends". The chorus goes "Woah-oh, I want some more, woah-oh, what are you waiting for?" It's a male singer, and the singer appears to be Caucasian. It is apparently alternative rock, with a Death Cab/Plain White T's sound to it. I've googled the lyrics I know and Google returns no hits. Wiwaxia (talk) 07:20, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What is this great Christmas song?

I have heared many times a very good Christmas song, but I don't know what it is.

This recording is quite short, about one and half minute. The sound tells me that the recording is from the sixties. Lyrics are in English. Song is quite fast and happy. The performer is a vocal group or a small choir. The sound of the singers are like Peter, Paul and Mary or The Seekers. In the lyrics they sing for example about what a boy and a girl (I don't remember their names) want to have to their Christmas presents. I think that the same performers have recorded also "We wish you a merry Christmas".

Can you help me?

I guess you mean Identically Different? I've no idea if they use Auto-Tune though. Just thought I'd give links, in case others have ideas.  Chzz  ►  03:50, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I would be surprised if a "teenage pop boy band" did not involve auto-tune processing in the studio these days. Does it matter? Pfly (talk) 11:06, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why is there virtually ZERO product placement in Disney films? (Ref: The Pacifier)

In many other hit films, we get to see real-world products all over the place.

However, in Disney films like The Pacifier, even the automotive marque badges have to be pulled off the radiator grilles, and the Girl Scouts have to be renamed the Firefly Scouts.

Does the whole Marketing industry hate to be seen on Disney? Why exclude themselves from Disney films while being let seen in others? --66.142.220.234 (talk) 05:49, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is it necessary for Disney movies to take place in the "real world"? And I don't think "the marketing industry" is excluding itself from Disney movies...companies pay for advertising, the movie studio (or whoever) doesn't pay them. If the movie doesn't need their money, there's no need to place products in it. I'm sure Disney can afford to pay for its own movies. If you're just talking about whether it interrupts the story as you're watching it, then sometimes an obvious change can be jarring, although it signifies that this is not "real" (as with "Firefly Scouts"). But conspicuous product placement can also be jarring. The last Star Trek movie, for example, had Nokia phones; and Transformers was essentially a three-hour car advertisement with a very loose plot. Adam Bishop (talk) 10:19, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If I had to hazard a guess, the product they are placing is themselves - Disney leverages it's creative output in a myriad of ways - merchandise, theme parks, video prequels, toys - 3rd party product placement would distract from the promotion of the Disney brand itself. Exxolon (talk) 21:16, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
For legal reasons, a movie needs to get clearance to show any real world products (since showing them in a negative light could potentially damage the brand, providing the basis for a lawsuit). One famous example is that the movie ET was supposed to feature M&M's, but they couldn't get legal clearance quickly enough, so they used Reese's_Pieces, instead, which would give them such clearance. (I'm not sure if this story is true or not.) So, to avoid the hassle and cost of getting legal clearances, some studios choose to avoid showing any real-world products, instead.
One other thought, perhaps Disney is afraid of a parental boycott if they start pushing junk food or other no-no's onto their young audiences in their movies. StuRat (talk) 04:33, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe their preferred aesthetic doesn't involve commercial imagery. Bus stop (talk) 04:46, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Guitar adjustment

Well, I am having some trouble with my second hand Signature acoustic guitar. What I'm experiencing is that...the strings 6,5 and 3 (E, A and G) touch my frets,. What do i do??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.204.7.170 (talk) 05:52, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If it's steel-stringed, you could loosen the truss rod (which may be hidden inside the sound hole, or behind a plate at the other end of the neck). If it's nylon-stringed, it won't have one. Another possibility is to try and raise the nut by detaching it, slipping something underneath it, and applying glue, but the only time I tried this procedure I in fact broke the nut and had to carve a new one (from an ebony chopstick since you ask), so it depends how much you value your guitar, and there may well be a less stupid option I hadn't thought of. 213.122.62.89 (talk) 11:06, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Spend $40 and have a professional do it. If you live near a major metro area, you likely have a store like Sam Ash or Guitar Center, or an independent luthier who can perform routine maintenance like this. If you're the kind of person who changes your own oil in your car and does your own plumbing, you could possibly adjust the action yourself. If not, its a cheap sort of thing that the professionals casn do for you. They can also install new strings, recondition the wood, and get it up into playing order for you for what is usually not a bad price. --Jayron32 21:53, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That list doesn't take into account the various Tom and Jerry television shows which have been made over the years. Including them, there are way more than the 162 epicoes the article you linked to describes. Also, please try not to bite the newbies in your edit summaries 87.142.63.36 (talk) 21:51, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
1) Bowie Huang isn't a newbie. Unless being around since about 2007 counts as "newbie" 2) The article I link contains additional links to the TV shows in question. --Jayron32 21:57, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Most of their edits are to the sandbox. It seems evident that they aren't a seasoned and experienced editor. It's the spirit of WP:BITE which matters, not the length of time they've been on Wikipedia. 87.142.63.36 (talk) 22:19, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This account is not his only account. He's been a very active editor for as long time. Many Wikipedians know him quite well. He is neither new nor inexperienced. --Jayron32 23:21, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion Question

I love wikipedia. such a large helpful information database and i respect those who work on it. I want to make an article about my book/world but realize wikipedia is reserved for more imortant things. Where could I write such an article and actually get it posted? My book IS published. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.69.86.179 (talk) 12:04, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Writing an article about yourself is a conflict of interest, for one thing. Secondly, it would need to pass a certain level of notability (WP:NOTABILITY) before an article would be justified. In other words, the book would have to receive a large amount of coverage by reliable sources that are independent of the source (e.g., someone other than you). Y2Kcrazyjoker4 (talkcontributions) 20:08, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think the original poster is asking about sites other than Wikipedia, not rules for posting on Wikipedia. One obvious suggestion is "Well, start your own web site". Perhaps someone can provide references for that. --Anonymous, 20:11 UTC, December 25, 2010.
If the book is notable, you could request an article to be written about it here Jarkeld (talk) 20:16, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

NBA Blooper

Okay, my Google search ability is failing me on this one, even though it's neither old nor obscure. Within the last few years, some NBA player tried to run the clock out and end the game by throwing the basketball up in the air; unfortunately for him, an opponent caught it and flung it toward the basket just in time to win. Anyone recall who-when-where? --Thedoorhinge (talk) 03:53, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Could it have been Wizards vs Raptors on March 31, 2007? Wizard Michael Ruffin gave Morris Peterson the opportunity to make a 3-pointer to tie the game, which the Raptors won in overtime.[6] Clarityfiend (talk) 04:11, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That's it! Consider yourself awesome ;) --Thedoorhinge (talk) 04:17, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Go to IMDB Pro. The IMDB Pro page for Cyberchase is at http://pro.imdb.com/title/tt0309141/?d=tt_header_moreatpro, for example. YOu will have to register an account. Corvus cornixtalk 07:00, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Walk of Fame Stars

When celebrities pass away and people put flowers and cards on their Hollywood Walk of Fame stars what happens to all that stuff does someone just throw it away or do they ask the celebrities family if they want it does anyone know? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.165.196.84 (talk) 09:32, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
