Capalaba (Template:Pron-en) is a suburb bordering on the southeast of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, located in the Redland City local government area. The name means "place of the scrub possum".[citation needed]
The suburb has two large shopping and commercial centres with a mall and bus station, and light industrial zones surrounded by residential streets and bushland. Surrounding suburbs include Alexandra Hills, Birkdale, Sheldon, also in Redland City, and Burbank and Chandler, both of which lie within Brisbane.
There are several major schools in Capalaba. Coolnwynpin State Primary School (Prep to Grade 7), Capalaba State College (Prep to Grade 12)and St Luke's Catholic School.
A multi-cinema movie-theatre can be found at Capalaba Central shopping centre. The Redland City Library and Council Chambers and the bus interchange station are also located on the Capalaba Central premises. Capalaba Park shopping centre is located directly opposite Capalaba Central.
