Monster High is an American fashion doll franchise created by Mattel in July, 2010. The characters are inspired by monster movies, sci-fi horror, thriller fiction, and various demons therefore distinguishing them from most fashion dolls. They were created by Garrett Sander, with illustrations by Kellee Riley.[2]

The Monster High franchise also includes other consumer products such as stationery, bags, key chains, various toys and video games. There are also Monster High TV specials, a web series, a direct to DVD movie, and software. Lisi Harrison is the author of the Monster High books. The characters are depicted as being either related to or as offspring of famous monsters such as Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, the Mummy, Medusa, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, the Phantom of the Opera, and zombies or others that are undead, and more. The characters are usually referred to as ghouls.

Characters

Main and Major

  • Frankie Stein - Frankie is the daughter of Frankenstein's monster. (Better said than "Son of Frankenstein" or "Son of Frankenstein's monster"). Frankie is a high, super-happy, lovable, loving girl, and is a mint green-skin-colored girl with white-and-black hair held with a paperclip-looking thingy, head-bolt-like thing for a "hair clip" or "berette".

Frankie is (almost) biologically to her parents, being that they literally built her. Her parents are Victor Stein and Viveka Stein in the bookie, while the Bride and Victor Frankenstein's monster are her grandparents, while 'The Monster' and The Bride of Frankenstein are her parents in cartooning animation-making (revealed in the webisode "HooDude VooDoo" to actually be true, going in her father's lab; though this is an error, being the fact that in reality, the story tells; (and being a scientist and all) that it's really, actually Dr. Victor Frankenstein's lab, not the actual monster's labertory). Frankie is kind, sweet, gentle (a lot like Raven Queen, actually, or actually, vice-versa; Frankie being the first character ever created, but unlike Frankie, Raven is more like to have an actual human teenager's age rather than "days old"). Frankie is pale skinned (also like Raven), because her skin is mint green, although this is PROBABLY unusual, being that the original figure for the monster had had been a much deeper, much darker green, actually. Frankie is pretty sensitive (like Draculaura, sort of), but is a little tougher actually, and will get back on her feet in convidence when no one else feels "not so down", despite being the youngest of the group, showing a little more matury, probably either what she was destined with when she was built, her nature personality she's grown or, or both, as this matury was first shown in "Rising from the Dead", and even, unlike Cleo, not complaining when being in the corn crop maze for a while because of the lost of the map in "The Field of Screams". She is voiced by Kate Higgins octopus or squid like creature thing

  • Clawdeen Wolf - Clawdeen is the daughter of the Wolfman (or probably the "Wolfman" from the 1924 film; or being more modern-timed and the same year by be the 2010 film addressed "The Wolfman"), and has an older brother named Clawd Wolf, one younger sister named Howleen Wolf and one older sister named Clawdia. But she has many other brothers and sisters which is briefly mentioned in a Monster High episode ("The Burmuda Love Triangle"). Clawdeen and Clawd have stated that there are more than one litter in their family. She is 15 years old and is covered with fur, with two piercings in each of her pointed wolf ears. Her pet is a tiny cat named Crescent. She is voiced by Salli Saffioti, though in Scaris: City of Frights, she goes under the alias Celeste Henderson. She also had a controversy about her hair.
  • Draculaura - Draculaura is the daughter of Count Dracula. She was 1599 years old and is now 1600 years old as of Valentine's Day. She has a pet bat named Count Fabulous. She is in a relationship with Clawd Wolf, who is the brother of her best friend, Clawdeen. Although a vampire, she is a vegan and does not drink blood, and is scared to say the word "blood" as she faints when she hears it. Her fangs are visibly seen protruding from her mouth, even when not talking. Her skin is a pale pink. She is voiced by Debi Derryberry, though in Monster High: Ghouls Rule and Scaris: City of Frights, she goes under the alias Dee Dee Green.
  • Cleo de Nile - Cleo is the 5,842 year old daughter of the Mummy and has an older sister named Nefera who is 5,844, two years older than Cleo and a father named Ramses de Nile. She has a pet snake named Hissette who is venomous. She is the fearleading squad captain, the queen of the social scene and Deuce Gorgon's girlfriend. She is a self-centered diva but also a good friend. Like Clawdeen, Cleo is also voiced by Salli Saffioti, though in Scaris: City of Frights, she goes under the alias Celeste Henderson.
  • Deuce Gorgon - Deuce is the 16-year-old son of Medusa. His whole family can turn anything to stone. He has a passion for cooking, but he keeps it a secret from most other students. He is the captain of the casketball team and loves skateboarding. Deuce is shown to be friendly, outgoing, confident, and with many friends. He is dating Cleo de Nile. He wears sunglasses to prevent him from turning other people to stone temporarily and has green snakes on his head. He was voiced by Yuri Lowenthal in Volume 1 and Volume 2 of the webisodes. Cam Clarke filled in for part of Volume 3 until Evan Smith was cast to be the new voice for Deuce for the rest of Volume 3 and all CGI animations.
  • Lagoona Blue - Lagoona is the 15 year old daughter of the monster of the black lagoon. Lagoona is a from "Down Under", which refers to her Australian accent (people from Australia are often described as being from "down under"). She is able to talk to water animals. She is also a lovable and sporty ghoul who is shown and said to have many friends around Monster High. Her skin dries out very easily and she has to use lots of moisturizer. Her pet is Neptuna, a Pirahna. She is the girlfriend of Gillington "Gil" Webber whos parents dont like her. She is voiced by Laura Bailey.
  • Ghoulia Yelps - Ghoulia is the daughter of zombie. At age 16 (in monster years), she is said to be the 'smartest ghoul in school', but she can only speak in moans and groans (or 'Zombie'). She is voiced by Audu Paden. She acted like a servant for Cleo de Nile for a time, but she is now treated more like a friend. She is dating "Slo-Mo" Mortavitch.
