My Wikipedia input

While I appreciate assistance from other Wikipedia users, I do not appreciate "final warnings" and find that inappropriate. I assume that all accounts are monitored for anyone deliberately "vandalizing" the site. I will not re-enter information that you have deleted and will be more careful looking for references for edits in future. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JOESPICE (talkcontribs) 01:21, 4 June 2015‎ (UTC)[reply]

Philippe Coutinho

Hi Mattythewhite I'm new to editing wikipedia articles and all I really wanted to do was change the picture used in the article. I have found a few other pictures that would be more accurate for this footballer Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shivgattu1202 (talkcontribs) 16:11, 24 July 2015‎ (UTC)[reply]

Bootham Crescent

Will do. Give me a day or three, though. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 11:21, 25 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Tomorrow, or more likely Tuesday while watching the transfer deadline go by with my lot probably failing to sign a backup central defender and preferably without selling Dimmy Gray. If I don't, then feel free to nag. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 16:22, 30 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ramsey

List of Birmingham City F.C. managers is correct. Soccerbase 1997/78, in its infinite wisdom, lists the League Cup defeat on 30 January 1978 during Ramsey's tenure, as opposed to when it actually was played, on 30 August 1977 when Bell was still in charge. Matthews (1995) (details in refs section at the managers list) pages 213, 243 will source it. p.213 is the league/FA Cup/League Cup results/lineups for 1977/78, and p.243 is the mixed competitions page that confirms the 1977/78 Anglo-Scottish Cup ties were all played in August before Ramsey took over. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 20:53, 28 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've updated the article using that ref. #OperationAlf ploughs on :) Mattythewhite (talk) 21:22, 28 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

You reverted my edit. You wrote on my talk page that I didn't provide any reliable source. La Libre Belgique is a reliable source... I gave the link in the comment of my edit. Now, if you can't read French, that something else entirely, but that doesn't make the whole source invalid. So please just read the paper, put it through some automatic translation tool and understand that La Libre Belgique is the second biggest French-speaking newspaper from Belgium. It's as reliable as any source.

2A02:A03F:2A1:A400:2985:28C6:7F30:B19A (talk) 23:49, 29 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The transfer has not been confirmed by either of the clubs involved, and in any case the source needs to be cited in the article itself, not just in the edit summary. Mattythewhite (talk) 23:52, 29 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That's being bad faith. Regarding the edit, since I gave the link you could just edit to add the source, but no, you had to revert entirely. The clubs don't need to say it officially to make it official. The press saying it's signed, and especially from a well-established newspaper as La Libre Belgique, is good enough. News events occur daily and the press say stuff before the officials say anything. Take for instance the recent shooting in Virginia. The article was present and documented well before the first official press conference from the cops. Accepting one and not the other is making a double-standard. 2A02:A03F:2A1:A400:2985:28C6:7F30:B19A (talk) 23:57, 29 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

With your admin powers, it may be advised to protect this article as a lot of obscenity has been posted on it in recent days. It's most likely from disgruntled Brighton fans holding an eternal grudge. I think the rubbish posted in the last edit – I'm not repeating it here as it's libellous – merits deletion '''tAD''' (talk) 19:45, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Revision deleted, upon reading it through. I'm reluctant to semi-protect the article as I don't think there's been enough disruptive edits to justify it. Mattythewhite (talk) 19:54, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That's OK, it may be just one lunatic causing the problems. Good luck for tonight, I imagine this is one of the busiest nights for football-related admins! '''tAD''' (talk) 19:59, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Lol, but the deadline is 6pm tomorrow, which is a relief :) Mattythewhite (talk) 20:11, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Carl Pentney

Hi! Thank you for keeping an eye on the statistics and my edits. The Carl Pentney stats are retrieved from the match reports at Maidenhead United's Pitch Hero website, apart from the Bath City match on 18 August 2015, which was covered by Bath Chronicle.

Stadium notability

Are there any notability guidelines for English football stadiums? Should stadiums in the National League have a page? Leeds United FC fan (talk) 18:57, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not aware of a formal guideline for stadiums, so WP:GNG is likely the only yardstick to go by. I would think there's a good chance for a ground at National League level to be considered notable, but it will vary case-by-case. Mattythewhite (talk) 19:02, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
What do you think about Guiseley A.F.C.'s stadium? It doesn't seem to have significant media coverage though. Leeds United FC fan (talk) 19:05, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I think it might be worth doing some research on the ground, to suss out if there's a wide enough range of sources available to justify an article. If you think there is, I'd go ahead and type an article up! Mattythewhite (talk) 19:15, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
There is a Yorkshire Evening Post article that talks about the stadium's new expansion. Some old BBC articles mention the stadium on occasion. There is many images of the stadium generally. The Gazette & Observer also has an article about a stadium upgrade last year. Other than that, there doesn't seem to be any significant media coverage. Leeds United FC fan (talk) 19:21, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Football Ground Guide, which is generally a useful site for English stadiums, has some good info. Not in itself enough to satisfy notability criteria, but great for beefing the article up. And there's these images on Flickr with Wikipedia-friendly licences that could be used on an article. I might be being optimistic, but I think the potential is there! Mattythewhite (talk) 19:31, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Do you think it should be created? Leeds United FC fan (talk) 19:33, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hard to give a straight yes or no. For me it would depend on whether an article demonstrates that it passes the GNG, which remains unknown. Mattythewhite (talk) 19:37, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
(Coming here from User talk:Redrose64#Guiseley A.F.C.'s stadium) Have you asked WT:FOOTY? They must come across the grounds of non-league clubs pretty often. --Redrose64 (talk) 19:48, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Football player's transfer

If a football player recently transferred, and a picture of his shirt with squad number is on the new club's website, however this number is not confirmed anywhere, should the shirt number be added to his Wikipedia page? Leeds United FC fan (talk) 20:02, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I should thank that is sufficient. Could you link to the image? Mattythewhite (talk) 20:04, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It can be found on the Partick Thistle F.C. website. Leeds United FC fan (talk) 20:06, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A quick thanks

Your responses have been quick and helpful. Another user decided to create the Nethermoor Park page though I may still be able to improve the page. Thanks for your support. Leeds United FC fan (talk) 10:38, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've decided to work on The New Lawn as they may achieve promotion to the Football League Two this season. Should I add a coordinates map similar to the map on Carrow Road or the York Community Stadium. Can I freely add a map similar to this? Where do I find the coordinates of the stadium? Thanks. Leeds United FC fan (talk) 18:18, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The coordinates are already on the article, and can be seen to the top right of the page. To add a map, just use the infobox parameters used at Carrow Road or York Community Stadium, and update them using the New Lawn coordinates. Mattythewhite (talk) 18:28, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have a problem with the name of that article. I created it with the name Paulo António do Prado Pereira, until it was moved to Paulo Pereira. The problem is that Paulo Pereira is a extremely frequent name in Portuguese-speaking world, as you can see in its "what links here". I think that taking over the name "Paulo Pereira" over other wikiproject's is not right, since it can apply to musicians, an handballer and a sprinter, and can mislead other users in thinking the article already exists. Moving it back to Paulo António do Prado Pereira would be the logical move, but it would leave a link behind in Paulo Pereira. Should he turn the page a disambiguation one or delete it outright?--Threeohsix (talk) 21:52, 4 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Paulo Pereira appears to the subject's most commonly used name in English language sources, so per WP:COMMONAME the article title is correct. Mattythewhite (talk) 22:02, 4 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
So it's fine to use Paulo Pereira, even though it links to other articles not related to him? You noticed it can link to a Paulo Cesar Alves Pereira - musician, Paulo Mouta Pereira another musician, Paulo Pereira a Portuguese actor, a Brazilian paraolympic athlete (also a Portuguese sprinter from the 1970s) and Paulo Jorge Pereira a Portuguese handball manager that managed in Angola? I think Paulo Pereira should be a disambiguation page and this Paulo Pereira be moved to other name, maybe Paulo Pereira, (footballer)? --Threeohsix (talk) 11:06, 5 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Disambiguation would be the correct approach, but I can't see that there are articles for other individuals named Paulo Pereira? Mattythewhite (talk) 13:13, 5 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
So don't do nothing until someone creates another Paulo Pereira? --Threeohsix (talk) 14:51, 5 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I would say so. Mattythewhite (talk) 14:57, 5 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Brad Halliday squad number

Hello Matty, just an enquiry... how do you know Brad Halliday will be No. 26 at Hartlepool? I've looked in my usual places and I can't see this? JMHamo (talk) 13:48, 10 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Tis in the source cited in the article :) Mattythewhite (talk) 13:50, 10 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You're obviously not updating the parameters "all the time", because if you were you wouldn't be receiving any warnings. In fact, looking at your recent edits, I don't think I can see any in which you've updated the parameters. Mattythewhite (talk) 22:03, 10 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Pepe

Sorry for not explaining, I didn't mean to delete the info on Pepe's page. I was trying to add that Pepe with Real Madrid hasn't received a red card since April 2011/2012.

In fact, Pepe was the only center back in La Liga in 2014/15 season to not receive a single yellow card. He only had 5 fouls, lowest in the league.

He has improved his behavior IMMENSELY, i just don't want people to make out what he used to do what they'll know about him forever on his wikipedia page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.228.49.36 (talk) 00:51, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
