Amtala (Bengali: আমতলা; is a census town under Bishnupur police station of Alipore Sadar subdivision in South 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal.[1]
Geography
Amtala is located at 22°13′N 88°10′E / 22.22°N 88.17°E.[2]
Demographics
As of 2011[update] India census,[3] Amtala had a population of 11236. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Amtala has an average literacy rate of 73%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 56% of the males and 44% of females literate. 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
