Israel is scheduled to compete at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. This will be the nation's sixteenth appearance at the Summer Olympics.

Badminton

Israel has qualified one badminton player for the men's singles into the Olympic tournament. London 2012 Olympian Misha Zilberman had claimed his Olympic spot as one of top 34 individual shuttlers in the BWF World Rankings as of 5 May 2016.[3]

Mountain biking

Israel has qualified one mountain biker for the men's Olympic cross-country race, as a result of his nation's twenty-second place finish in the UCI Olympic Ranking List of May 25, 2016.

Fencing

Israel has entered one fencer into the Olympic competition, signifying the nation's sporting comeback after an eight-year hiatus. 2008 Olympian Delila Hatuel had claimed her Olympic spot in the women's foil by finishing among the top four individuals at the European Zonal Qualifier in Prague, Czech Republic.

Gymnastics

Artistic

Israel has entered one artistic gymnast into the Olympic competition. Two-time Olympian Alexander Shatilov had claimed his Olympic spot in the men's apparatus and all-around events at the Olympic Test Event in Rio de Janeiro.[4]

Rhythmic

Israel has qualified a squad of rhythmic gymnasts for the individual and group all-around by finishing in the top 15 (for individual) and top 10 (for group) at the 2015 World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany.[5]

Judo

Israel has qualified a total of seven judokas for each of the following weight classes at the Games. Six of them (three per gender), including 2015 European champion Sagi Muki and London 2012 Olympian Golan Pollack, were ranked among the top 22 eligible judokas for men and top 14 for women in the IJF World Ranking List of May 30, 2016, while Shira Rishony at women's extra-lightweight (48 kg) earned a continental quota spot from the European region, as Israel's top-ranked judoka based on World Ranking points.

Shooting

Israeli shooters have achieved quota places for the following events by virtue of their best finishes at the 2015 ISSF World Cup series, and European Championships or Games, as long as they obtained a minimum qualifying score (MQS) by March 31, 2016.[8]

Synchronized swimming

Israel has fielded a squad of two synchronized swimmers to compete only in the women's duet by virtue of their twelfth-place finish at the FINA Olympic test event in Rio de Janeiro.[12]

Taekwondo

Israel entered one athlete into the taekwondo competition at the Olympics. Ron Attias secured a place in the men's flyweight category (58 kg) by virtue of his top two finish at the 2016 European Qualification Tournament in Istanbul, Turkey.[13]

Triathlon

Israel has entered one triathlete to compete at the Games, signifying the nation's Olympic debut in the sport. Ron Darmon was ranked among the top 43 eligible triathletes in the men's event based on the ITU Olympic Qualification List as of May 15, 2016.[14]

Wrestling

Israel has qualified one wrestler for the women's freestyle 69 kg into the Olympic competition as a result of her semifinal triumph at the first meet of the World Qualification Tournament, signifying the nation's Olympic comeback to the sport for the first time since 2004.[15][16]
