I've said this before!!
I've said this before and I'm going to say it again Ratbat is a partner of Soundwave in the G1 series of Transformers. Stop removing him from the partners list in the side bar!!
Yeah Gun Ship I have seen him be removed really annoying SoundWaveGaming (talk) 17:22, 28 November 2016 (UTC)
Difference between Packaged with and Partnered with
Quote Transformers: Generation 1 (1984) "in the tape compartment, which becomes his chest in robot mode, he stores the Decepticon spy cassettes Ravage, Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Ratbat, Rumble, and Frenzy, who seem to exist in a quasi-symbiotic relationship with him."
In the US Transformers G1 animated series Soundwave is partnered with Ravage, Laserbeak, Ratbat, Rumble, Frenzy and Buzzsaw. Just because Frenzy and Ratbat were not packaged with the Action Master or Universe Soundwave toy does not mean they are not partnered with him. All not packaged with means is you couldn’t get them in the same box as Soundwave.
They worked together like any other two decepticons - Runamuch and Runabout, etc. user:mathewignash
mathewignash I will be posting on the talk page proof that they are partnered with Soundwave.
About Soundwave Partners
The following is a list of Soundwave partners and Frenzy and Ratbat are included. Please stop removing them.
Buzzsaw
Ravage
Laserbeak
Ratbat
Rumble
Frenzy
Wingthing it the partner of Action Master Soundwave, Space Case is the partner to Universe Soundwave. Look it up. As for the above cassettes, versions of Soundwave have been packaged with many cassettes, but not wih Frenzy or Ratbat. They were both sold without Soundwave and therefore are NOT his partners. user:mathewignash
Not sure if "Universe" should be lowercase, since it's the name of a product line. --Daniel Tate 00:59, 21 Sep 2004 (UTC)
I have restored and added to the list of partners. Take a poll if you like, but I think that most Transformers G1 fans will agree that any Decepticon cassette is a partner of Soundwave by default. It doesn't matter who was packaged with what: cassettes and cassette players are a match, and the cassettes have always been described / portrayed as being associates (possibly even dependents) of Soundwave. I also left Wingthing and Space Case alone, even though I think they're rather irrelevant. (The Action Masters and the Universe line have been all but ignored in Transformers fiction.) Spekkio 06:35, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- The current listing for partners is as follows:
- These are all valid partners by their very nature - they all only exist in subspace until ejected from Soundwave's cassette deck! If someone wants to be ultra-pedantic, maybe a line in the Toys section listing those cassettes that he was packaged with is warranted, but the character was partnered with all of the above. -- JediLofty User ¦ Talk 10:17, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
I agree with Jedilofty all Decepticon cassettes are valid partner of Soundwave so I am going to put my foot down. mathewignash if you are going to edit this page so it provides inaccurate information and illegal images I will report you to an admin. Do I make my self clear?
- I have fixed the list on the page AGAIN! -- JediLofty User ¦ Talk 08:21, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
I have been forced to restore the list to its full content. I propose we seriously have a vote and end this editing once and for all. So please sound off: should the list be restricted to pack-ins, or all Decepticon cassettes? Spekkio 22:26, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
I am reluctant to reopen this debate, but I don't think it's fair to include Space Case or Wingthing as partners; in the case of Space Case, I think it's reasonable to say 'packaged with', as he appears to be a more distinct and individual character than any cassette-mold, and in the case of Wingthing, I think the description of 'Action Master Partner' should be appended, as Wingthing is a more unique case than the cassettes. 24.37.244.211 17:47, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
- There is a discussion going on about this at Wikipedia Talk:WikiProject Transformers#Partners.-- JediLofty User ¦ Talk 19:38, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Decepticon logo
What is the source of the information about Soundwave's face being the inspiration for the Decepticon logo? I'm not saying it's untrue, but I've never heard it before. The connection seems a little strained to me, but if a reliable source is produced I'll be fine with it.--Sean|Black 22:53, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
- Well, in fairness, I can't think of an official source, if one has ever stated it. Regardless, it's been an accepted fact for quite some time now. In the same way, the Prowl/Bluestreak/Smokescreen mould is the inspiration for the Autobot symbol - it's not a coincidence that both symbols resemble the faces of two toys. - User: Chris McFeely 13:11, 11 December 2005
- Now that you mention it, I have heard this before. Think you can find something online, at least?--Sean|Black 23:22, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, after a bit of searching, all I can see to find is a lot of different topics of people saying "Hey, the Decepticon logo looks like Soundwave," and other people going, "Yeah, it was based on him." - User: Chris McFeely 12th December 2005
- Okay, I've put it back, but with a disclaimer stating that it's only fan speculation. Is that okay?--Sean|Black 21:59, 14 December 2005 (UTC)#
- Looks good to me. :) Chris, 15 December 2005

Buzzsaw
Should a mention be made about Buzzsaw (the Lazerbeak-like bird casette that came packaged with the original Soundwave? Dexeron 18:48, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
John Madden?
Why is there a picture of John Madden and Pat Summerall on the page?
Cleanup?
This article looks awful and could really use some cleanup! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.71.194.105 (talk) 07:43, 28 April 2007 (UTC).
It was written somewhere in the article that Soundwave was "far from stupid" and "kept his mouth shut" when disposing of Megatron's body. To clean it up, I've changed "stupid" to "outspoken" and instead of saying "kept his mouth shut" , I changed it to "kept mournfully silent". Hope the original author doesn't mind my small edit. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 207.45.43.68 (talk) 19:40, August 23, 2007 (UTC)
Hated?
Some people I know call him "The Jar-Jar Binks of Transformers". Is it because he has such a laughable alt form?
- That sounds pretty groundless. Soundwave is definitely one of the best remembered of the Decepticons.--MrDopple 21:48, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
- The people that you know are in the minority. Soundwave is by far the most popular transformer. Rivalling Prime and Megatron.
Bumblebee was the Jarjar of Transformers, until the move. 24.63.75.131 (talk) 22:24, 6 April 2008 (UTC) -G
Who the fuck are these people? Mr Dopple and the others are right, Soundwave is a fan fave, he always has been. He acts nothing like binks and doesn't talk like him.. so wtf is there to compare?
Yes What the flip are people doing ?Soumdwave is a loved and cool character not a funny character.Have you ever seen him make a funny face or joke no?exactly SoundWaveGaming (talk) 17:44, 28 November 2016 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Soundwave comic.jpg
Image:Soundwave comic.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

soundwave redirects to sound?
I type in soundwave and it goes to the sound article. Can someone make it so it doesn't force one straight to the sound article? I had to type soundwave (transformer) to find this page.Desertmonk 00:20, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
No as it is highly likely that more people are looking for the scientific explaination of a soundwave than a toy article. Madslocodemente 04:09, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
Speculated where exactly?
It suggest in the animated storyline for Soundwave that it is speculated he may have looked for a way to reverse Galvatron's creation so that he would be Megatron again. Sounds more like a fan fiction piece to me. Could that be sourced from somewhere, otherwise it's just nonsense as nothing happened in the series to suggest that. Soundwave or Soundwave (Transformers)?
Currently, Soundwave is a redirect to Soundwave (Transformers), while sound wave is a redirect to sound. Personally, I dislike redirects from XXX to XXX (YYY). The main article should be either a real article or a disambiguation page, not a redirect. However, there is the confusion between the name spelled together or separated. Therefore I propose moving this back to Soundwave and adding disambiguation notices to both pages:
- This article is about the Transformers character. For real-life sound waves, see sound.
- "Sound wave" redirects here. For the Transformers character, see Soundwave.
What are your opinions? JIP | Talk 21:34, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Mutants-transformers.jpg
The image Image:Mutants-transformers.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.
The following images also have this problem:

Animated toy
Removed this piece about the TFA toy:
Unlike most of the "Transformers Animated" line-up of toys, the Deluxe-class Soundwave does not have an Auto-conversion feature. In terms of size, he definitely in scale with Voyager-class Bulkhead, like how in the show Soundwave was nearly as tall as Bulkhead.
Auto-conversion is not something seen across the majority of the line, especially at the Deluxe price point. The scale comparison with Bulkhead also seems a little subjective. Optimus Sledge (talk) 22:55, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
2007 Film
I see that Revenge of The Fallen is listed under "2007 Transformers Film". I think the title needs to be changed into something more updated. I'm changing the title to "Live action films" —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bart-16 (talk • contribs) 00:42, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Movie role
Ok I have to ask this: where did the source for Soundwave's role come from? Is it from the novelization or something like that? I've been keeping a pretty close eye on things and I haven't heard any mention of that anywhere. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.208.233.64 (talk) 18:50, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Producer of energon cubes
Soundwave wasn't the only transformer that could produce energon cubes, in the episode 34 - Megatrons Master Plan Starscream, Dirge, Ramjet and Thrust could produce energon cubes, between their hands, too! --141.89.70.39 (talk) 07:07, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
