K. Palanisamy is an Indian politician who serves as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, having assumed the office on February 16, 2017. He is presently serving as Minister for Highways & Minor Ports in the Government of Tamil Nadu, and is the sitting Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Edapadi in the Salem district, Tamil Nadu legislative assembly. He is a member of the Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam political party.

He is the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu after the party MLA's chose him as the leader of AIADMK Legislature Party after Mrs. V. K. Sasikala was convicted by Supreme Court in the disproportionate assets case.

Career

Palanisamy has won the election to the state assembly four times, in 1989, 1991, 2011 and 2016. On latter occasions, he has contested on an AIADMK party ticket. On all occasions, his seat has been Edapadi constituency.[1][2][3][4][5]
