Nominations for the Oak Leaves
The WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves are awarded by the project coordinators in the name of the project as a whole; they are intended to recognize editors who have made contributions of truly incredible quality or importance in the area of military history. Members wishing to nominate an editor for the award should leave a brief recommendation below, taking into account the criteria on this page. The award is bestowed on all nominees receiving support from a majority of the current coordinator tranche. When consensus to bestow the award has been obtained, any co-ord can make the award. The following steps should be followed: (1) post the award on the recipient's talk page; (2) mark the nomination below as "awarded" with a diff of the talkpage post; and (3) add it to the historical list maintained at the WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves section on the Awards page. Finally, the award should also be listed in the next edition of The Bugle, the "Project news" section. For instance, if the award was made in February, it would be announced in the March edition of The Bugle. Over time, completed nominations (successful and unsuccessful), should be archived manually in the archive to the right.
Dank
@WP:MILHIST coordinators: I would like to nominate Dank for the WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves in recognition of many years of dedication to the Military History project. Dan has been heavily involved with Milhist's review processes over many years, and has been instrumental in improving our standards for prose and copy editing. Through his copy editing and reviewing, I suspect that he would have had a hand in almost all of the FAs the project has produced over the past five or so years (if not longer). I have learnt a lot from Dan over the years, and I believe so have many others. He has also been a stalwart of the co-ord team for many years, first taking on a role in March 2010 and retaining a position for eight terms before taking a well deserved break. Beyond this, Dan also supports broader Wikipedia goals with his work on WP:TFA, and at WP:FAC, and elsewhere. I hope that you will find this a satisfactory nom. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 06:53, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
- Support I was surprised to see that Dan had not received the Oak Leaves before. A massive contributor to our ACR reviewing throughput over the years, and although he tends to stick to FAC and TFA now, he's still in there plugging away on behalf of Milhist, improving prose and making excellent suggestions for improvements. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 07:28, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
- Support I am sure that the nomination is well made and well deserved. Cinderella157 (talk) 08:35, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
- Support -- What can I say? Dan has been a great colleague and friend to me and all of the MilHist (and Featured Content) community over the years -- this is indeed well-deserved, and occurring only at this late date because of his long service as a coord up till now. Thanks/cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 08:57, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
- Support. Actually, I was thinking of proposing him for coordinator emeritus, but that shouldn't preclude giving him the Oak Leaves as well. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 09:04, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
- Support A well deserved nomination. Regards, Krishna Chaitanya Velaga (talk • mail) 10:30, 2 October 2017 (UTC)
- Support, obviously. Dan's work has been indispensable. Parsecboy (talk) 11:43, 2 October 2017 (UTC)

- Support Agree with everything that's been said - and if I'm not mistaken, Dank's also copy-edited a few of my more challenging articles and op-eds over the years. That always deserves recognition :) TomStar81 (Talk) 19:43, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
- Awarded. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 04:16, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
Jackyd101
@WP:MILHIST coordinators: I would like to present Jackyd101 for your consideration to receive the WikiChevrons with Oak Leaves. Jackyd101 is an old stager, having been a member of the project since 2006 by my reckoning, with their main effort being focussed on the French Revolutionary Wars and the Napoleonic Wars. They have an excellent content creation record, with 12 FAs, seven FLs, 112 GAs, DYKs out the yingyang, but also an unbelievable 241! GAN reviews to their credit! Given that GAN is one of the engine rooms of this project as well as WP as a whole, the GAN reviewing effort alone justifies this award in my view. Still very active in content creation after all these years, they currently have five articles in the GAN list. While I can't find an award of the WikiChevrons in their archives (our guidelines say a recipient should "generally" have already received the WikiChevrons), I believe this is an IAR situation. I hope you'll agree. Cheers, Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 06:32, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
- Support: Jacky is another editor very deserving of this award; thank you, PM, for nominating. Happy to ignore the issue with the WikiChevrons. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 07:06, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

Nominations for the A-Class Medal
A-Class Medal nominations are initiated when an editor first achieves three successful A-Class nominations, and for every third subsequent successful A-Class nomination. The tally of eligible editors is maintained here. These medal nominations need at least two coordinators' votes to succeed. The first co-ord nominates the award on this page; this is performed automatically by Milhist bot after the co-ord closes the nominator's third successful A-Class nomination. The role of the second (and any subsequent) coordinators is only to verify that the editor is due to receive this medal in order to prevent accidental awards and check for any anomalies in the tally. Once an A-Class Medal has been awarded, the closing co-ord should do the following:
- Post the award on the recipient's talk page.
- Mark the nomination below as "awarded" with a diff of the talkpage post.
- Add it to the historical list maintained on the A-Class Medal page.
- The award should also be listed in the next edition of The Bugle, the "Project news" section. For instance, if the award was made in February, it would be announced in the March edition of The Bugle.
Over time, completed nominations should be archived manually in the archive to the right.

- Comment Perhaps I have missed something but Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Awards/ACM#A-Class medal with Oak Leaves indicates this to be the third Oak leaf award (ie 7) and ARs own tally is 28 in total? Should I be looking somewhere else to confirm the award? Regards, Cinderella157 (talk) 11:58, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
- G'day, I think Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Awards/ACM is missing a few entries for me. My own tally was out of date, too, though, so I can't cast any stones. This list should be more accurate: User:AustralianRupert/Medal card. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 09:27, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
- @AustralianRupert, would you mind checking that I have done all the steps correctly? I couldn't see any "ptocedure". Is this some of our undocumented corporate knowledge that was my concern when we started the audit? Is Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Awards/ACM the primary way to check? Do we need to audit it? Do you wish to continue this discussion somewhere else? Regards, Cinderella157 (talk) 10:18, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
- No worries. I made a minor tweak: [1]. The award should, in theory, also be added to Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/News/March 2018/Project news. You might be right about this process not being recorded somewhere. I will have a look around. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 10:54, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you for taking the demotion of your award on the chin. :) There are a lot of manual steps in the process. If the bot does the initial nomination, I wonder if there is not scope for the bot to do at least some of the process and remove some of the scope for human error (my error). I can conceptualise how this might work. Regards, Cinderella157 (talk) 11:40, 15 February 2018 (UTC)

Nominations for the A-Class Cross
A-Class Cross nominations become possible when an editor has achieved their fifteenth A-Class Medal with Diamonds. An A-Class Cross nomination is initiated when such an editor achieves another five successful A-Class nominations, and for every fifth subsequent successful A-Class nomination. These cross nominations need at least two coordinators' votes to succeed; the role of the second (and any subsequent) coordinators is only to verify that the editor is due to receive this cross in order to prevent accidental awards. Once an A-Class Cross has been awarded, add it to the A-Class Cross page.
