Parmar (clan)

The Parmara (Panwar) are a Kshatriya Rajput clan in India, who claim descent from the Agnivansha dynasty. A Garasia clan also uses this title, claiming descent from the Rajputs.[1]

There are numerous variants of the name, including Pramar, Pavar, Powar, Pawar, Panwar, and Ponwar.[2]

Pramara or Powar Race is remarkable and ancient race in Indian History. The Parmara dynasty of Ponwar race had powerful presence during 9th to 12th centuries. [3] Emperor Vikramaditya,King Shalivahan , King Bhoja , Yogi Bharthari were the influencing Heroes of this clan . After the decline of Ponwar kingdom, Powar or parmara groups moved away from the Malwa. Migration of Powars took place from Malwa since last 700 hundred years to different part of country.
