Help me

I'm done with edit warring. I removed content from the article Shilpa Anand because I want to add new informations with new content and references. But you not leting me do this. Now help me to edit the aricle Shilpa Anand.--157.185.130.61 (talk) 10:25, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, it is very late here and I am going away on vacation so I suggest asking @Bonadea: because they reverted your edit first. However, I suggest reading their comment on the revert [1] first as that explains generally why we both disagree with your additions. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 10:28, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hey HickoryOughtShirt, thanks for cleaning up the article. The IP is a sock of a blocked user, and I and other editors have spent hours trying to explain to the sockmaster and their various sockpuppets why the text they want to include is inappropriate, why the sources they add are not reliable, and why they are not allowed to create new accounts or use IPs when their original account was blocked. At this point I am not prepared to spend more time telling them the same thing yet again, I'm afraid. I hope you'll have a good vacation! --bonadea contributions talk 17:07, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Bonadea: they're back at it again, they removed a huge section from the page already. I'm on my phone so frustratingly I cannot do the huge revert that needs to get done on that page. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 09:50, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The word we are looking for is "grr", I think. Thanks for the heads-up - I'll have a look. --bonadea contributions talk 10:00, 22 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Can you help me remove this? You recently edited this. It's our old logo and it linking into our google page. Thank you. B.Reeves (talk) 03:20, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@B.Reeves: I only edited it because you blanked it. Blanking is not the solution for removing photos. As well, just because it's an old logo doesn't mean it has to get removed and I am unsure if that is justifiable. I suggest trying WP:HELPDESK. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 03:22, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@B.Reeves: I also want to mention that if you have a conflict of interest you shouldn't be editing that article. Check out WP:COI. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 03:26, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Goodness gracious

I've never seen a page experience rapid-fire vandalism like that before. Literally multiple times per second. Insane. Lizard (talk) 04:59, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It's a perfect storm I think. Prime-time, involved s superstar player, the long stare-down, the studio analysts replaying it multiple times. Lizard (talk) 05:03, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I normally see death jokes I just thought this was wayyyy too fast. Of course no one is working page protection when we need it huh. That's how life works. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 05:04, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Reminds me of the time Malcolm Butler was burned during last year's Super Bowl and i had to singlehandedly hold down the fort. But even that hardly compares to this. Lizard (talk) 05:09, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop and do not revert my contributions, that article is off reality. You are not helping but obstructing, I live in Richmond Hights. I bet you dont. So claerly you dont care.

I don't see what living in the city has to do with good editing. You a) aren't using edit summaries to explain removals b) copied and pasted c) are telling people to go to an external website instead of using own words. It doesn't matter where you live, that is not how Wikipedia works. I left you some helpful links about contributing to Wikipedia, please read them. Hi! In this article https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Antonio_Mateu_Lahoz&action=history all today changes need reverting. I was trying to do that, but wasn't savvy enough. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:110F:4503:9200:E170:D27A:453F:A64B (talk) 22:38, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, thanks for letting me know and thanks for your help! I'll try and find the clean version. I am currently looking for sources to help add to the article. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:40, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Minnesota Wild

Well, thanks for correcting yourself after you misread my edits. Yeah, so I noticed a couple of people have been vandalizing the article for the Wild after their recent loss to the Avalanche. My main goal here on Wikipedia is to help fight vandalism, and I plan to watch the article.

@Snidester: I am sorry about that. I was seeing if my request for page protection was accepted and I noticed your report so I thought I'd stop by to help. Clearly, it is getting too late for me to edit, oops! If you want to fight vandalism, I suggest you check out Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit and recent changes patroller, that's how I noticed most of the vandalism on Wiki. If you have any questions don't be afraid to stop by. Just a tip, when you post on someone's Wiki add four tidals (~) to add your signature.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 06:37, 3 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Snidester: Oh, I forgot to mention this; when you revert vandalism and it is continuous despite warnings you can report them at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. I see you already found page protection which can be effective but AIV is meant for specific editors doing vandalism. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 06:50, 3 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Does the CVU require alot dedication? I filed a request to have the Minnesota Wild article temporarily protected, so I guess we can see how that goes. And, I have already seen AIV, I reported a user who contentiously added false info the Welsh Corgi page.Snidester (talk) 06:54, 3 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, CVU doesn't require a lot of dedication but when I was new and confused about some policies they were very helpful when I posted questions on their talk page. You can request to be mentored at Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit/Academy where experienced editors help new users with the in-and-outs of vandalism fighting if you wish for something with a lot of dedication. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 06:58, 3 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, ok. I did read that you must have atleast 200 mainspace edits before joining. Is this true or am I misinterpreting it? I'll check it out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Snidester (talkcontribs) 07:06, 3 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oh you're right, I'm sorry I forgot about that. However, with the way you're going I'm sure you'll be at 200 before the end of this month! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 07:09, 3 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Well now I've reached the 200 edit count, I'm most likely going to join the CVU when I can. Snidester (talk) 01:25, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yay! Good luck! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:26, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
There isn't much opportunity right now however, for me. Snidester (talk) 02:52, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean? They aren't taking people right now? Well I see you got rollback rights so that's a good way to counter vandalism. You seem to be on the right track! And again, if you have any questions about vandalism etc. you can ping me or ask on the CVU talk page. Also, admins are always happy to help. Well actually I'm doing assignments now, but my schoolwork has other plans for now. Snidester (talk) 06:59, 11 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, getting everything done before the playoffs, smart :). HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 07:03, 11 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It would be even smarter if my Stars decided not to choke out of their great playoff spot. A sports teams from Dallas loses a bunch of games in a row resulting in them choking a good playoff spot. I feel like I've seen this before. Snidester (talk) 07:19, 11 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Snidester: Better than them choking on a 4–1 lead in Game 7. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 07:22, 11 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, the information under personal life that relates to a driving under the influence relates to George Edwards NOT Michael Edwards, and I would like for it to be removed.

Also, He avoided conviction and a criminal record by completing a diversion program for the Tennessee incident in 2013. If you look up his criminal record online you will see that he doesn't have one. How do I get that updated also?

@Bryanross22: Yes I have removed the George Edwards content and you can add the diversion program after the ""He pleaded down to a lesser charge and was sentenced to two years probation" part. I just want to let you know that it was fine for you to add positive content, the problem was just you removed negative content to do so and it was unsourced. I see you added this link (https://websta.me/n/ginnelite) which doesn't specifically state Edwards works there. Please find a reliable source that shows he does. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 06:40, 4 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Good job cleaning that article. Feel free to revert or change my edit on the stock price, I'm not attached to it. I looked at a 3 charts and saw that it never reached the high that was in there and pulled that promo high. TVGarfield (talk) 03:55, 5 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@TVGarfield: Thanks for your help! I don't really know much about business market growth so your understanding of those charts was probably better than mine would've been. I don't think the article qualifies for deletion, I personally think them owning the Chinese rights to the NBA website/that Skype deal is pretty notable, however, it definitely needed to get cut down. The heights on nhl.com are based on how players inform them and not by real measurements. Instead on the reference (the one I linked to the article) the measurements were taken from NHL combine fitness test primer so this time the measurements must be accurate. Also you can't just think that the article is "wrong" if it's 2 years old because Laine has probably not grown any height after that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.156.29.136 (talk) 04:12, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Look, the article is 2 years old, people can grow. Also Wikipedia goes on sources, not on truth. I doubt a two year old article is more reliable than Elite Prospects and NHL.com. Take to talk page. I don't want to argue over this, however, if you can find more sources (preferably recent ones) that show he is currently 6'4 that would be beneficial. While I agree the combine is a good source, it was two years ago and there are many competing, reliable articles that say otherwise. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:13, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I also want to note that I didn't revert you but another editor did, I just fixed the citation. This is more appropriate for the articles talk page (Talk:Patrik Laine) HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:16, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I've been thinking of this and have done some extensive research about height accuracy. I am unsure what other editors will think, I also cannot prove/disprove he didn't grow, but after some readings, scoping blogs and articles etc. the combine might be okay. A lot of articles on Wiki go based on nhl.com and I am proposing you take it to the talk page because a lot of people will contest this throughout the years (Laine's page will grow more popular as he continues to play in the NHL, people will see NHL.com's height and fix it on Wiki) so that is why a consensus has to be reached on the Wiki's article talk page. I am trying to remain neutral, it really doesn't matter to me whether it's 6'4 or 6'5, although my default is usually to go with what NHL.com says. Wiki is a collaborative project and I am not about to war with someone over 1 foot. Other editors may feel more passionate than I do though, for example I was not the one to revert you so people do have opposing opinions, so make sure you visit the talk page. Hi. Thanks for notifying me, but for your own best interest, it's not a good idea to notify one editor of a talk discussion. Much better to do what I did, and see the copy I used at either project talk. Just got done with a very very painful and drawn out discussion with a very difficult editor that ended with him topic banned, partially for CANVAS. If you are notifying individual editors, the only safe way to go is to notify all active editors that have ever participated at the particular talk. Here, that was a null. I've got a bit of a reputation of really strongly opposing discussion of news anywhere on Wikipedia, and I'm hoping one editor in particular doesn't make a point of that. On a related subject, I dropped a NOTFORUM warning on the red letter editor's talk. That was more than a bit over the top. Sexual assault? Really? If that's the case, I was raped repeatedly in school. Finally, just wanted to let you know, you're doing a great job around here. Thanks. John from Idegon (talk) 01:44, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@John from Idegon: Thank you very much for the information. On a side note, I do believe the other editor was saying that being spanked can lead in the future to students being less resistant to sexual assault, not that the paddling itself was sexual assault. I just opposed that because I felt it was too much speculation/undue weight on the school. Now that I know about that talk page you posted I will use that from now on. I apologize, I only knew you worked with schools and did not want to post something controversial without an experienced editor viewing it. Well I read the original article and nowhere in it is it mentioned the fact that "she" is in fact a he. I thought it should be in there somewhere, otherwise the whole article is fictitious, dont you think?

The way you added it was completely inappropriate. There is currently a discussion on the talk page about making it better, feel free to join in on the conversation. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:23, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

well the truth is inappropriate sometime. I still think it should be noted in there somehow. Let's not cave to the present-day liberal hypersensitivity and hide the facts: "she" is no she. Hey man you said I provided a unreliable source but it’s a local high school news outlet. Also I said a rappers stage name do you want the real name. Lamarsmith15 (talk) 02:32, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Lamarsmith15: I actually didn't say you didn't provide a reliable source, that was another editor. I said your list entry was a red link, meaning they don't have a wiki article and are therefore considered not notable. I suggest creating the article first (WP:YFA), if they pass our notability criteria, then adding it in. By the way, a local highschool newspaper doesn't show notability. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:37, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Tricky. It might even be the person or a relation looking at the user name - not that I like Jamaal0922 and Jamaal33 in the same history! - there's a lot of unref data. It's difficult to decide on things like birthday (which seem to be a place of attack), when there is no refs - might be better to remove it altogether - or just have the year. Ronhjones  (Talk) 22:50, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Ronhjones: I found two refs for the page, including a ref from foxsports for his birthday so would that be enough? I found a ref from his highschool saying he graduated in 93 too. It is true that birthday are tricky and can be contested but their edits are either sloppy or deliberately breaking the nav box as seen here and here. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:55, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Any ref is better than none, and to contest needs a better one!. I did note the infobox breaking - that may just be a novice editor. Give then enough rope Ronhjones  (Talk) 23:00, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Gilly1986: Thanks for the ping, it was thoughtful and I do appreciate it. The main reason I had an issue was because you would add a 2017-18 section with no stats, just the box. It's not the end of the season yet though so I would wait. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:22, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Religion figures of Patiala city

Hi. I am here to correct you about this edit of yours. You have clearly misinterpreted this source. It mentions Patiala district's religion figures at the top and those of cities and towns in the district afterwards starting with Patiala city's figures. Clearly, you forgot to scroll down to see those figures. Since there are separate articles on Patiala city and Patiala district, their individual respective religious figures have to be mentioned in their respective articles as is the case with most Indian district headquarters cities and their namesake districts. Punjab, India has also a different demography in that the urban part of the state has a 60% Hindu majority, while rural Punjab has over 70% Sikh majority. Overall Punjab had 57.7% Sikhs and 38.5% Hindus. In simple words, Hindus predominate in most major cities and even small towns in Punjab with Sikhs forming a very large minority (in some cities like Amritsar, a second majority). For avoiding confusion, I have replaced the earlier source with another one from the same site focussing on Patiala city's figures. You can even cross check the figures from the official government site of Census of India but that will be a daunting task since the census library is huge. For the same purpose, Government of India has sort of approved this site. I apologise for being a little harsh in my edit summary but what was to be corrected had to be corrected. I hope you will introspect and understand your mistake. Have a good day. Vibhss (talk) 05:54, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Vibhss: Thank you for explaining and correcting it. Please note this wasn't done with malicious intent and I don't think an admin would block me as you note in your edit summary based on the circumstances. I think I was mainly concerned with the fact that IPs were completely blanking the section like this for example, [3], [4], with no explanation despite encouragement from many editors. I do appreciate you pinging me on my talk page since I am not watching the page.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 06:02, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@HickoryOughtShirt?4: I once again apologize for that comment but I am really tired of reverting vandals (mainly IPs) who keep on maliciously tempering with religious percentages in various articles and I thought you to be one. Of course I didn't see your user page before. Vibhss (talk) 06:16, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Vibhss: No problem, no harm was done and I get what you mean about fighting vandals. Thank you for helping to keep Wikipedia accurate. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 06:19, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ghost Stories spoilers

Hi there, I got your message re: not changing a synopsis for spoilers. I'm the co-writer and director of the film. It's such a shame that this is able to happen. This is the first week of the movie's release in the UK before its international release across April. A large part of the enjoyment of the story is in the reveal of the third act twist. To have this information on Wikipedia at this point in the film's life cycle, ahead of its actual release is of no benefit to anyone. All it does is diminish the potential pleasure it may yield to an interested audience member. Feels more like somebody out there wanting to degrade other people's experience of the film for there own purposes. (I accept that in a year's time the situation is different - information is information). with all good wishes Dysonjeremy (talk) 08:59, 12 April 2018 (UTC)Jeremy Dyson[reply]

Hi @Dysonjeremy: and thank you for telling me this. Since you have a Coflict of interest it is recommended that you don't edit this page, or any page with content you have a personal relationship with, in the future and instead make requested edits on the articles talk page. If you want to make edits to the plot to minimize the spoilers make a request on the talk page and other editors can help you. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 09:08, 12 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Structial Damp

I didn't know I had a talk page. I don't know how to message you from the talk page. I haven't edited a topic in many years. I found the talk page for Structural Damp and some didn't think it actually exists but it does and I left some links to U.S.A sites that are building practices for our version of "Damp" in veneer brick standards and using metal to stop capillary action and driven rain. On the Editors ademden on that page I left a external link and mentioned that the 6th paragraph down was the information I cut and pasted to solution of synthetic materials.2605:A601:3122:1600:7132:A315:4F40:DCEA (talk) 03:19, 14 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. I thank you for your contributions since you seem knowledgeable about the topic. The reason I reverted this edit was because of the language you use. In order to keep articles neutral, please don't use words like "I" or "This is an editors note". An articles Wikipedia page is meant purely for facts, not personal anecdotes. Feel free to bring this up on the Talk:Damp (structural) and try to find a way to add the information in without personal pronouns or opinions. Making edits

Hi,

I am trying to make edits to the Mesirow Financial page that keep being reverted back.

Why is this? Can you help me remove the following: "In 2016, the company contributed $331,129 to political organizations, primarily to organizations affiliated with the Democratic Party.[3]"

This is outdated and no longer relevant.

Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.252.173.10 (talk) 21:12, 17 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I believe you have a conflict of interest with Mesirow Financial based on previous edits to the page. I suggest requesting this edit on Talk:Mesirow Financial where other editors can add their opinion. As well, please read WP:PSCOI. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:15, 17 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

So you're saying only users who do not work at the company can make edits to the page? Seems odd... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.252.173.10 (talk) 21:29, 17 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It is recommended that way to keep the page neutral. For example, edits like this [5] are very promotionally worded and are not neutral. Wikipedia isn't a soapbox or a place to advertise a company, it is merely for facts. I am sure you can agree it is hard to remain neutral when you work for the company. @JarrahTree: Haha I've done that. Thanks for helping out! Don't you hate it when you're doing productive work and get pulled away by trolls? Been happening to me all day. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 09:31, 18 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
says a lot about your watch list - there is an art in having a very large watch list with no easy target items on it :( JarrahTree 09:33, 18 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@JarrahTree: Hah, that is true. Since mine are mostly sports articles and it's the playoffs...you get the idea. You wouldn't believe how many people seem to die on a basketball court. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 09:37, 18 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean

I clearly cited conclusive evidence of the incident. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MattHagg (talkcontribs) 22:22, 18 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@MattHagg: A picture of a single person with no wider context isn't good enough. Check out WP:RS and WP:V. As well, the incident isn't notable and even if there was a source wouldn't likely qualify to be on the school's page. It's regular high school gossip.
