ACG Parnell College is an independent co-educational facility and is part of ACG Education (formerly known as Academic Colleges Group), whose New Zealand schools are members of the Independent Schools of New Zealand (ISNZ).[3] The school is located in the Auckland City suburb of Parnell, New Zealand close to numerous Auckland Motorways. The school offers the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE)[citation needed] and is a member of the Association of Cambridge Schools in New Zealand.[4]

History

ACG Parnell College (formerly ACG Junior College) was founded in 1998 and originally provided education for students in Years 7 to 10. In 2007 the College was redeveloped, renamed and expanded to offer places at Years 1 to 13.[5]

School Leadership

Mr Larne Edmeades was the school's former Principal.[6] He was appointed as Principal in 2005, he has worked with staff to establish and develop the new ACG campus. He left the college at the end of the 2016 academic year, leaving Mr. Ed Coup as acting principal.[6] In early June 2017, Russell Brooke became the school Principal.[7]

The Principal is in charge of the Primary School and specifically, the College. The College is also run by two Deputy Principals and an Assistant Principal.

Aside from Deans, administrative and support staff, the school employs approximately 50-60 teachers.[8]

Curriculum and Standards

Through the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) curriculum a high standard of education and discovery is ensured for students.[citation needed] This was confirmed through the most recent Education Review Office report as found on their website.[9] The school's average class time is 70 minutes.[10] The school takes advantage of the Parnell Tennis Club and the Newmarket Olympic Swimming Pools whenever it needs to train their students during the summer.[11]
