- The result of the discussion was: delete. ℯxplicit 01:04, 24 August 2018 (UTC)
- Nominator's rationale: Duplicates Category:Heads of state in Africa. Needs to be emptied before deletion as all entries are already in sub-categories of the main category. DrKay (talk) 16:16, 10 August 2018 (UTC)
- Note: It appears the category was prematurely emptied. -- Black Falcon (talk) 21:35, 10 August 2018 (UTC)
- Support per WP:OVERLAPCAT, but @DrKay: you shouldn't empty the category before the discussion is closed. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:31, 11 August 2018 (UTC)

- Propose merging Category:Christian sororities to Category:Christian fraternities and sororities and Category:Sororities
- Propose merging Category:Christian fraternities to Category:Christian fraternities and sororities
- Nominator's rationale: upmerge per WP:SMALLCAT, both categories only contain an eponymous article and a template. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:13, 10 August 2018 (UTC)
- Merge for Now With no objection to recreating later if we ever get up to 5 or so articles. RevelationDirect (talk) 23:31, 10 August 2018 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:Jewish resistance members during the Holocaust. ℯxplicit 02:09, 25 August 2018 (UTC)
- Propose
splittingrenaming Category:Jewish resistance fighters toCategory:Jewish partisans andCategory:Jewish resistance members
- Propose
- Nominator's rationale: Currently, there is no distinction made between armed and nonviolent resistance. The Jewish resistance article states, "According to historical scholar Yehuda Bauer, Jewish resistance was defined as actions that were taken against all laws and actions acted by Germans". The vast majority of people involved in resistance by that definition did not bear arms and were therefore not "fighters". Furthermore, the Nazis themselves defined Jews as dangerous and violent in order to justify their extermination. A good example is Masha Bruskina, previously listed in this category, a seventeen-year-old Jewish girl engaged in nonviolent resistance. Before the Germans executed her, they forced her to parade through the streets with a sign saying that she was a partisan who shot German soldiers. I propose a main category Category:Jewish resistance members (currently redirects to Category:Jewish resistance fighters) with the following subcats: Category:Jewish partisans, Category:Participants in ghetto uprisings, and Category:Jews in nonviolent resistance. Catrìona (talk) 05:33, 10 August 2018 (UTC)
- I can follow the rationale of this nomination, but I can't follow the proposed action. To me it seems that the goal can simply be achieved by creating and populating a new Category:Jewish people of World War II in nonviolent resistance. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:07, 10 August 2018 (UTC)
- That is not sufficient, because the phrase "resistance fighters" is used only three times in Wikipedia categories, probably because of its POV connotations. I guess it would be simpler to rename the category to Category:Jewish resistance members, and subcats could be created from there. I've clarified the nomination to reflect that. Catrìona (talk) 20:46, 10 August 2018 (UTC)
- That makes it much clearer indeed. Support rename to "members" per nom. In fact, with this rename, we even no longer need a separate nonviolent subcategory. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:44, 11 August 2018 (UTC)
- No opinion on "fighters" versus "members" at this time; however, neither of the category titles actually specifies that they pertain to Jewish resistance during the Holocaust. "Jewish resistance" could, for example, just as easily refer to the Jewish insurgency in Mandatory Palestine. Therefore, the title should be amended to include "during the Holocaust", e.g. Category:Jewish resistance members during the Holocaust or Category:World War II Jewish resistance members. -- Black Falcon (talk) 21:42, 10 August 2018 (UTC)
- Support this too. That is a second vote by one editor, but it is meant to be a complimentary vote. No preference for either of the two alternatives. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:44, 11 August 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose The word "resistance" mostly implies armed or otherwise violent resistance, and on first glance, most members of this category indeed fall in that group. If renamed, I'd say "against Nazi Germany" e.g., but not "WWII", because some of the resistance predated the war. Debresser (talk) 18:34, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
- Comment: as stated in the nom, most recent definitions of Jewish resistance during the Holocaust include nonviolent resistance. I think that the current name of the category is preventing more people like Emanuel Ringelblum, Alfred Wetzler, or Fredy Hirsch from being added. Once the move is carried out I plan to add subcats for various types of armed and nonviolent resistance. Catrìona (talk) 15:40, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
- Comment in the parent category, Category:World War II resistance members the only subcat to use the "fighters" nomenclature is Category:Polish resistance fighters of World War II. The rest - Category:Czech resistance members, Category:Norwegian resistance members etc. use "members" Catrìona (talk) 01:09, 15 August 2018 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was: delete. ℯxplicit 02:09, 25 August 2018 (UTC)
- Nominator's rationale: delete per WP:NONDEF and WP:OCAWARD. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:42, 15 July 2018 (UTC)
- Expand abbreviations -- World Economic Forum is a notable international body,
so that its awards might be significant enough to escape OCAWARD. Peterkingiron (talk) 19:19, 15 July 2018 (UTC)
- This is not anything like the Nobel Prize. In the biographies it is merely a side note. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:27, 16 July 2018 (UTC)
- Keep and Rename to something like Category:Young Global Leaders (per article Young Global Leaders, there does not seem to be any exact homonym). This is more of a cooperation forum and a training program than just an award. Place Clichy (talk) 15:35, 16 July 2018 (UTC)
- Delete - Per Place Clichy's comment, this does indeed seems like the type of characteristic that is more suited to a list than a category. If kept, rename to Category:Young Global Leaders per the main article. -- Black Falcon (talk) 19:51, 1 August 2018 (UTC)

- Delete as non-defining (e.g. for Haakon, Crown Prince of Norway). DexDor (talk) 05:28, 10 August 2018 (UTC)
- Listify and delete which is the usual outcome in OCAWARD cases. I have struck through part of my previous vote, nit iof anything is kept abbreviations must still be expanded e.g. in listifying. Peterkingiron (talk) 16:13, 10 August 2018 (UTC)
- Delete Per the main article, Young Global Leaders, there were 237 awards issues the first year and it occurs every year. This looks more like a career development/mentorship opportunity than an award that itself adds to notability. RevelationDirect (talk) 23:35, 10 August 2018 (UTC)

- Nominator's rationale: At this time, there is not enough content (just the main article and 1 subcategory) to warrant an eponymous category. Both the article and subcategory are otherwise appropriately categorized, so upmerging is not required. (@Namiba: notifying the category's creator.) -- Black Falcon (talk) 02:43, 10 August 2018 (UTC)
- Delete for Now With no objection to recreating if we ever get up to 5 or so articles. RevelationDirect (talk) 02:53, 10 August 2018 (UTC)
- Delete for now As category creator, I now see that it is too small of a category. --TM 10:54, 10 August 2018 (UTC)

- Nominator's rationale: All of the pages that used to be in this category have successfully been removed, so this category is no longer needed and should be deleted. The bot that used to add pages to this category had long stopped working. GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 00:03, 10 August 2018 (UTC)
