"El Sinaloense" ("The Sinaloan"), was written by Severiano Briseño in 1944. Today people associate the Banda music Genre with Sinaloense, and specifically this song.

Banda Sinaloense experienced international popularity in the 1990s. Unlike tamborazo Zacatecano, Sinaloense's essential instrument is the tuba. Sometimes an accordion is also included.

Importance and Significance

This song has become the most popular song played in the Banda music Genre. "El Sinaloense" has been recorded by hundreds of recording artists, in both vocal and instrumental versions. Some well-known artists are La Arrolladora Banda El Limón de René Camacho, Banda Los Recoditos, Banda Cuisillos, Joan Sebastian, Chalino Sánchez, Jenni Rivera, Banda Machos, Banda el Recodo, etc.

The song has become so popular that many Sinaloans consider it as their unofficial anthem.[1]
