Iran's next supreme leader election will be carried out by the Assembly of Experts elected by the people as Iran Constitution. Right now the fifth session of the Assembly of Experts (2015-2024), is responsible for the election of Iran's next Supreme Leader.[1]
Supreme leader election in constitution
A two-thirds vote of the members of the Assembly of Experts is required to elect a candidate. According to the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in case of temporary debility of the leader, the council included the president, chief justice and one of the faqihs(member) of the Guardian Council who was elected by Expediency Discernment Council, temporary undertake the leader's duties.[1] While in a constitution, anything has not been written about the successor of leader, Assembly of Experts allow electing the successor of leader at the time of the current one.[2]
