Malaysian Airlines plane crash

Krystal Ball was pranked live on air during her coverage of the Malaysian flight crash in Ukraine — with an apparent fan of shock jock Howard Stern posing as a military expert.

“Let’s turn now to an MSNBC exclusive. U.S. Staff Sergeant Michael Boyd, he is at the U.S. embassy in Ukraine and he says he saw a missile in the air hit the plane, he is on the phone with us,” Ball said.

"I was looking out the window and I saw a projectile flying through the sky, and it would appear that the plane was shot down by a blast of wind from Howard Stern's ass," the caller said.

Ball continued her questioning. "So it would appear that the plane was shot down. Can you tell us anything more from your military training of what sort of missile system that may have been coming from?" she asked.

"Boy you're a dumbass, aren't ya?" came the reply.

People's House Project and a Return to Television

In May, 2017, Ball announced the formation of The People's House Project, a political action committee to support middle- and working-class candidates in the Midwest and Appalachian states. The People's House Project enjoys the support of several members of Congress, including Tim Ryan (D-Ohio), John Yarmuth, (D-Kentucky), and Ro Khanna (D-California). [1]

Ball is the President of The People's House Project. [2]

Reindeer should go back in

I disagree with this edit https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Krystal_Ball&type=revision&diff=904109776&oldid=904109708

(1) It got extensive media coverage in WP:RS at the time, and under the guideline WP:WEIGHT, it should be represented in the article in proportion to its coverage.

(2) Ball herself responded to it extensively, and used it as a lesson in how to deal with embarrassing photos that were taken when you were younger. [1] and many others.

(3) "this really doesn't seem encyclopedically necessary" is not a reason under WP policies and guidelines to delete something.

In addition, I think it's now more significant because of the Franken photo, but I don't have a WP policy or guideline to support that. --Nbauman (talk) 22:41, 23 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Selected BLP links: Do no harm and per BLPGOSSIP not exactly relevant to a disinterested article about the subject. The topic itself (not the removed text) should be covered, I'm aware of a 2019 Rising video in solidarity with Katie Hill (politician), and your 2015 source (Cosmopolitan interview by Jill Filipovic) is arguably a "must have", but no details about the silly private photos. –84.46.53.116 (talk) 18:09, 20 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sources: A youtube video and a AP story that doesn't mention Ball

The AP source is being used to describe the People's House Project. If we're going to say that Ball was the director of a PAC called the PHP, we need to either link to a dedicated article (which doesn't exist yet) or add some reliably sourced text about what the PHP has done. The video we cite is much better than other stuff on YouTube since the person conducting the interview is a journalist best known for his collaborations with a Pulitzer Prize winner. If that's not enough and you think it's better to avoid youtube.com sources no matter what, I'm fine with that. Connor Behan (talk) 21:31, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Feminism + Photo

I've added category:American feminists with a 2020 Rising video as source, also for the WikiProject Feminism here. That source should be improved (older, and more specific, e.g., "postmodern" or "sex-positive" feminism, if possible.)
While at it I added the Journalism and Women projects here upgrading class=start to class=C as on Kim Iversen, i.e., has photo + has infobox. For the photo I requested a {{Crop for Wikidata}} on Commons, a fresher free photo would be better. –84.46.53.116 (talk) 11:52, 20 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Really? The only BLPs I can find that have the feminism portal and WikiProject Feminism are people like Gloria Steinem who have devoted their entire careers to it. I agree with having Krystal Ball in Category: American feminists but the other inclusions are borderline misleading. Connor Behan (talk) 00:05, 22 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
