Sahifah al-Sadiqah (Arabic: الصحيفة الصادقة, romanizedThe Truthful Script) is a hadith collection compiled by the companion of Prophet Muhammad, Abd Allah ibn Amr ibn al-As (d. 65 AH). It is often called the first book of Hadith.[1][2]

Description

In the beginning of Islam, Prophet Muhammad took measures to ensure that his words, known as hadith, were not recorded alongside the Qur’an to prevent any potential confusion between the divine scripture, the Qur’an, and the sayings or actions of the Prophet but in last years of his life, companions were allowed to write them as most of the Quran was already revealed and recorded. And Abd Allah ibn Amr ibn al-As was among the few companions who had written Hadiths in the presence of Holy Prophet. [3][4] The book contains almost One thousand (1000) hadiths according to Maktaba Shamila.[5]

Methodoloy

The book recorded different sayings of Holy Prophet at random occasions. It does not contain any chapter or sub chapters.

Publication

The book is not published separately as it is already the part of Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal who included almost all the scripts ever written by any Companion (Sahabi) of Prophet Muhammad.
