White, Adam (August 20, 2021). "Alan Alda addresses viral claim he met wife when they both ate a cake off the floor". The Independent. On Wednesday (18 August), Twitter user @sonyashea3 tweeted a screenshot of Alda's Wikipedia page, which claims that he and wife Arlene met while students at New York's Hunter College, and shared a memorable introduction. "They bonded at a mutual friend's dinner party," the Wikipedia entry claims. "When a rum cake accidentally fell onto the kitchen floor, they were the only two guests who did not hesitate to eat it."
One of the pictures is described as: "Alan Alda c. 1960s". I wonder what does the "c." stand in the description? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.245.82.2 (talk) 13:43, 30 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
"circa" - meaning that the picture was made some unknown time in or around 1960.Shajure (talk) 22:54, 25 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The lead is about Alda and his key facts and should *tightly* summarize the article
I removed, again, a bunch of stuff about other folks, kinds of movies, etc. from the lead. If we need that stuff, it needs to be in the body, with some link to Alda's contribution... did Aldo influence a costar's development? A director's? help define a genre? That would be worth mentioning. The name of the 2nd camera-operator's favorite color or pet wombat's name would not.Shajure (talk) 21:50, 30 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The NYT piece is literally just a cast listing, so no pass on GNG and I don't think her acting work meets NACTOR, unlike her sister. Makes sense to cover her within context of her father's personal life StarMississippi 15:24, 14 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
After literally a year and a day with no opposition, @Star Mississippi:, I think you can proceed with the merge. Joyous! | Talk 04:03, 15 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hah! I'd totally forgotten about this. Thank you for the reminder and DoneStarMississippi 19:12, 15 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I suspect that's just a reference to his time filming The Glass House. - Bilby (talk) 07:22, 20 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Missing information
Alan Alda also starred in a comedy movie called Wanderlust. He plays as a wheelchair bound co-founder of a cultish Bed and Breakfast called Elysium. 71.150.106.59 (talk) 04:28, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Never served in Korea
Alan Alda never served in Korea. He had denied it on multiple occasions. For example in this tweet: https://twitter.com/alanalda/status/1217229317387669504. Plus he details his service in his autobiography and he was only in the US. Is there some way to get that error out of there. It does say he served on some military sites but they are all wrong.
