Welcome to my talk page! Please feel free to leave a message here, or email me if you prefer; however, if you post here you I ask that you observe the following requests:

  • Place new messages at the bottom of the page, not at the top. This preserves the chronological order for the page.
  • Separate topic sections with a ==Descriptive header== and Sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~).
  • Unless otherwise noted I will respond on your talk page.
  • Do not post in the archive(s). I will not answer any post placed on a page that is mothballed.
  • I archive all posts more than one month old.

When doing major overhauls like you did to Illinois its generally a good idea to start in a sandbox or add {{inuse}} to the article page is you plan on working on it out in the open; The latter helps prevent edit conflicts so you don't lose info in-between edits. Thought you might like to know :) TomStar81 (Talk) 04:30, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I thought about that, but decided against it for some reason. Anyhow, I don't think there is much left to do there.-MBK004 04:33, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, take Illinois to the A-class review. As for the Featured Topic idea, I got the thinking about that the other day and decided it would be worth a shot. Your list looks good, btw, it covers everything pretty nicely. TomStar81 (Talk) 06:21, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Your welcome. Its the least I can do; having brought the class and armament page up to FA and I love a challenge. Besides its always nice to know that someone has your back, especially when dealing with GA, A and FA class article reviews. Happy Thanksgiving! TomStar81 (Talk) 03:00, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I had to change it to something more specific, we can change it back if we find a site for it. TomStar81 (Talk) 03:26, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good, better than mine even. Put it in. TomStar81 (Talk) 04:25, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I was expecting this; some editers here have a hard time accepting short article FACs (and for that matter FACs on fictional subjects). We will just have to ride it out as best as we can. On that note I left messages at MILHIST and SHIPS to see about getting some friendly opinions on the FAC page. Our in house guys are usually a little more understanding on such matters, so we may get a little more support from those base camps. On an unrelated note good luck with your finals. TomStar81 (Talk) 07:53, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have taken a stab at rewriting the article to give it a better shot at FAC; unfurtunetly though, I do not have as good an understanding of the conversion templates or the ships class templates as you do. Could you add those to the article when you get a chance? I would apreciate it. TomStar81 (Talk) 12:51, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:USS Texas (BB-35)

Yep, I am still planning to bring that one up to FA status. Before I do that however I need to bring the class page up to FA status and compile enough material to create a page on the armament of the New York class battleships; in this way, I can help Texas go featured by giving her a strong foundation to launch from. This was a lesson I learned during the updating of Wisconsin and to a lesser extent Missouri; people have an easier time with ship articles if they see that the article is a part of series on the subject. TomStar81 (Talk) 20:31, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, if you think it can clear GA-class than go ahead and nominate it; I'll co-nominate since this verion is basic the same one I uploaded a few monthes back (albeit with fewer spelling and grammar errors). The New York Class will be among my next big projects when I finish with the Montana class since the Montanas do not have a service history. TomStar81 (Talk) 07:17, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Very Well. Have a good night's sleep,and good luck with school tomorow :) TomStar81 (Talk) 07:25, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RfA

I considered not spamming talk pages but not saying "thanks" just isn't me. The support was remarkable and appreciated. I only hope that I am able to help a little on here. Please let me know if I can help you or equally if you find any of my actions questionable. Thanks & regards --Herby talk thyme 12:39, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RFA thanks

One of my favorite places Dear MBK004,

Thank you for supporting in my recent RfA. Words nor pictures can express my heartfelt appreciation at the confidence the community has shown me. I am both heartened and humbled by this confidence. I will carry the lessons learned from the constructive criticism I have received with me as I edit Wikipedia, and heed those lessons. Special thanks to Pedro and Henrik as nominators. Special thanks to Rudget who wanted to. A very special thanks to Moonriddengirl for her eloquence and perceptiveness.

Vandalism

Note further vandalism of Henry VIII page removed by me.

Excuse me but what was wrong with my edits. Everything in there was full of information. Just because it was not favorable to Rachal Ray lovers and Al Sharpton lovers does not mean it was not true. You need open your mind more.

The parts of rachel ray not tiping can be seen on anthony bourdain's SC No Reservations. I would not make something up relating to anthony bourdain. Her birth date I did make up though. And to quote Mr. Stephen Colbert I actually do think that Wikipedia is an amazing thing. It is the first place I go when I’m looking for knowledge, or when I want to create some" Stephen Colbert is never wrong. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shadygrove95 (talkcontribs) 00:09, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

USS Texas (BB-35) GA on hold

GA on hold — Notes left on talk page. Nehrams2020 04:30, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

FYI: your not supposed to edit the page if thier is an inuse tag on it; my corrective edits did not save becuase you editted the page after I put the template up. I think in this case you should go ahead and fix up the article, you seem to be on top of things at the moment :) TomStar81 (Talk) —Preceding comment was added at 05:48, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the review of Amy Dumas' article. I appreciate it. :) Nikki311 00:00, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries

Hi! I sometimes use edit summaries when I feel that I have to explain my edits and/or I am making an important edit :) WhisperToMe 17:26, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry my comment was a little brusque, adding that history template was good, and you can't be expected to know every move. :) --Golbez (talk) 17:00, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question

You seemed like a knowledgable wikidude so I was curious if their was a way to change the name of an article. The article in question is Tony Rey(Musician), however currently this artist is known as Tony Bruno. Is their a way to change this so that those seeking information on Tony Bruno can be directed to this page or have the page renamed.--Coffeegirlyme (talk) 08:06, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the advice. Study up and I hope you do well on your exams!--Coffeegirlyme (talk) 03:35, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA

According to your comment on my RfA, you don't think that I will abuse the tools. If that is true, why not support? Adminship is not about giving users a reward, but rather about giving users extra tools when they can be trusted not to abuse them. An administrator is like a janitor (thus sometimes the term "mop" is substituted for the word "tools"), they clean up and maintain. If you were interviewing a potential janitor for a publishing company, would one of the prerequisites be that they be a prolific writer? Thanks for taking the time to read this.  :) -- Cobi(t|c|b|cn) 20:48, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Illinois Rising

With special permission from deputy fac director SandyGeorgia I have recieved permission to relist USS Illinois on the fac page immediately, the second nom has already been filed. We are back on the gun line, but this time we need make our shots count; we shoot to kill, we aim to win. Are you still with me? TomStar81 (Talk) 22:27, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Removal of CN tags from the US currency pages

The reason I removed the CN tags before is because I don't believe "common sense knowledge" should be tagged with them, as it can make the article look distracting. Also, it takes attention away from CN tags that ARE needed (like if the sentence/paragraph is of a controversial nature or if there's a chance that the sentence/paragraph is just plain wrong). The same goes for all those silly "Trivia sections are discouraged..." labels in articles where a trivia/pop culture section is essential (such as the Simpsons episode articles where pop culture refrences are heavily used in the Simpsons). And since anyone with a black light can see how the stripes in dollar bills glow, I figured that counted as common sense knowledge, not "original research". After all, you don't see the parts about the bills having a matching watermark with the CN label.

Also, if it makes you feel any better, I noticed your own pet peeve and you'll be pleased to know that I have gotten better at using the edit summary more regularly. ;)76.177.160.69 (talk) 03:34, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
