Some cookies to welcome you!

Welcome to Wikipedia, Evking22! Thank you for your contributions. I am Feinoha and I have been editing Wikipedia for some time, so if you have any questions feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. You can also check out Wikipedia:Questions or type {{help me}} at the bottom of this page. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that will automatically produce your username and the date. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Feinoha Talk 23:23, 27 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Bad Usernames

Hi, next time when you see a name that is a blatant violation of user name policy, you can just report it to WP:UAA instead of adding the user name concern template. Feinoha Talk 23:23, 27 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

However, I will add that the WP:UAA admins will take action only if the user has made edits. If they have no edit history whatsoever, it's better to leave them a {{uw-username}} talk page warning. If they've made submissions only to a draft article, then a {{uw-coi-username}} warning would be appropriate. --Drm310 (talk) 14:56, 20 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

420yoloswagyoloswag420

You're probably right, but how is it disruptive. I don't understand the whole yolo swag thing. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 19:02, 4 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Usernames

I'd like to make a friendly suggestion related to your reports at WP:UAA. Since UAA is normally quite backlogged, it is best to stick with reporting usernames that are most problematic. I notice that you have reported many users with obviously promotional usernames but that have never edited. Since there are a surprisingly large number of accounts that are created but never used, I think these ones can be safely ignored until they actually do edit. In fact, the username policy says, "A user who both adopts a promotional username and also engages in inappropriately promotional behaviors in articles about the company, group, or product, can be blocked". Therefore accounts that have never edited technically shouldn't be blocked yet (although they typically are, if reported). I think refraining from reporting these usernames will help us admins that patrol UAA and keep the backlog smaller. Regards, -- Ed (Edgar181) 16:31, 9 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for June 10

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Martin County, Indiana, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mount Pleasant, Indiana. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

USGS references in Indiana articles

Hello, and thanks for the unincorporated community articles. However, there's a problem with the references. Hiser, Indiana has a USGS reference for Pennville, Indiana; Chester, Indiana has a USGS reference for Middleboro, Indiana; Hoover Mill, Indiana only has a link to the USGS website, and is thus unreferenced; etc. Can you please check your references and fix them before posting the articles? Thanks, OnionRing (talk) 15:07, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Have you considered asking for autopatrolled status at Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Autopatrolled? I notice that you're creating a lot of new articles and it looks like you know what you're doing, so having autopatrolled status would keep your articles out of the new unreviewed pages log. Thanks, shoy (reactions) 18:30, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrolled granted

Hi Evking22, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the patroller right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Widr (talk) 21:17, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Re Roger Herft

Hi Evking22

I think you were correct to remove this paragraph. I will re edit it with a link to current media if that is OK and you can check and re edit if necessary

Reporting username violations

Hi there, thanks for your efforts to help enforce the username policy! I noticed that you've recently reported several username violations for accounts that were created up to a month ago with no edits or activity of any sort. In most cases, it's not necessary to report or block old and unused accounts. It only creates unnecessary work and actually increases visibility to names that you're ostensibly trying to eliminate. Thanks and happy editing, – Juliancolton | Talk 03:03, 31 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

Hi Evking, I've left a note for you at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Veterans Songs. Thanks. Lourdes 03:16, 1 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. All these Pittston related articles have been bombarded with IP edits. I'm sure they are all socks of User:Matt500066 but haven't had time to report it. Cheers. Magnolia677 (talk) 01:33, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nice work

Hello again. I just added photos to some of the articles you created in Starke County, Indiana. Very nice job! Magnolia677 (talk) 23:11, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I added a bit to Coke Oven Hollow, Indiana, and changed its status to a ghost town. GNIS still calls it a populated place, but one of my sources said it is covered in forest, and a satellite view shows the same. I created most of the ghost towns listed here and GNIS still lists a number of them as populated places, even though some are covered by the Mississippi River. Please let me know if you have a concern about this, and thanks for creating this article! Magnolia677 (talk) 20:22, 15 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your effort in expanding that article is outstanding. I always thought that something was off about the community, such as the three word name and the coordinates pointing to forest, but I believed that it was real in some way. Thanks for adding more sources to the article to prove that this place had existed. Evking22 (talk) 00:55, 16 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

user warnings

Just a little note, I think you shouldn't give warnings to IPs for edits made six months earlier. This will only cause confusion for the current owner of the IP. L293D ( • ) 00:54, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Evking22. I am from Keystone IN so I can tell you from personal experience that the post office there was not discontinued in 1957. I checked the source you cited, postalhistory.com, but there was no indication of its closure.

Please reference USPS.gov or postofficehours.com where you can verify the accuracy of my claim.

Actually, you seem to be right. A simple search on Google Maps shows that the community of Keystone still has an operating post office. I will make changes to the article. Thanks for reporting this misleading information. Evking22 (talk) 21:40, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Chili, IN pronounciation

I accidentally deleted the link you sent on how to add sources. I've found several web pages supporting my edit that the name of Chili, Indiana is pronounced "CHAI-lai" instead of "chilly." So as soon as I know how to reference those sources and make sure they're acceptable, I'll redo my edit. Thanks! Swboats (talk) 06:35, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Jasper

Can you show your work for Jasper extending into multiple townships? Neither Bing maps nor any other source I've found shows this unless there were very recent annexations. Edit: Should have added none of the township pages you've associated with Jasper mention parts of the city existing in those townships, and Jasper's own city website only mentions it as being completely within Bainbridge. So I am really curious to see sources showing otherwise. --Criticalthinker (talk) 08:30, 14 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

https://duboisin.wthgis.com is my proof. As you zoom into Jasper, you can see that the city limits of Jasper do extend into those townships, even if they are only neighborhoods. The yellow areas represent Jasper's city limits. Evking22 (talk) 21:59, 14 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. The opening paragraph and infoxbox need to be changed to show this as of now they only speak to it being in Bainbridge. Also, the other two township pages need to list "Jasper (part)" among the list of communities in in the townships. --Criticalthinker (talk) 23:59, 14 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

2019 US Banknote Contest

US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here

Haleysburg not Haleysbury

First ever attempted Wikipedia 'edit' for me. Your Halesbury, Indiana article is accurate except the name is spelled incorrectly. Last letter is a 'g'. My family lived nearby 150 years ago. Check the official Washington County map for Halesyburg Rd, there no longer is a village of that name. Or read From Needmore to Prosperity by Ronald Baker from which the post office info was apparently copied. 2001:558:6001:A:4DFC:8F65:8372:CBCF (talk) 19:27, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I looked into it further, and I have fixed it based on this evidence. Apparently the GNIS made a little typo or something. Evking22 (talk) 21:48, 10 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
