Pseudonymous Bosch edit

Thank you for your recent contribution to the Pseudonymous Bosch wiki-page. While the review you linked to is very nice, it does not specifically state the information that needed citation (that the book "centers around a character who was first introduced as Max-Ernest's little brother, Paul-Clay, in the Secret Series.") In fact, the Kirkus Review you added isn't really appropriate on the Pseudonymous Bosch proper (at least as the page currently is) but it certainly could be used to add to the Bad Magic (Pseudonymous Bosch) page. Also, for future reference, be careful not to mix citation styles on a Wikipedia page — you should add new citations in the existing style only. Happy editing! Congratulations on your fluency in Wikipedia templates

You got me though. Is it the translating the references that you think isn't neutral, or fixing the order problems? If you answer me here please use <nowiki>@Username:</nowiki}}, or I will not see it. I merely suggest this as it seems possible that you might not yet have had occasion to use this in your month-long wikipedia career Elinruby (talk) 22:06, 28 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Elinruby It's marking resistance as ethnic cleansing that is NPOV: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ukrainian_anti-Soviet_armed_resistance&diff=1085174224&oldid=1085156303&diffmode=source. Also, having more contributions does not make you above me, and it's two months. I'll be happy to have the Ethnic Cleansing category if you get a consensus or reference one.
P.S. Thanks for the comment on my fluency in templates! 𝕸𝖗 𝕽𝖊𝖆𝖉𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝕿𝖚𝖗𝖙𝖑𝖊 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦 (talk) 22:13, 28 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Huh. Currently being wikihounded from the other point of view. I don't claim to be above you; I was just suspicious of behaviour that seemed unusual, and implying that you might be a troll. There is a lot of that going around. Your response does make me think you are a genuine new user, though, so pardon me. Feel free to ask me questions if you like. And ok then, to your template.
The request for a reference is reasonable and appropriate. I am looking at [1] which says that ethnic cleansing took place on both sides. I do welcome your help and feedback with this article if you are willing to proceed from sources.
In particular, this article came to me as a machine translation, generally considered a bad idea, but I have rehabilitated quite a few of them so this is a guideline I feel able to break in this case since I have experience with this and it does represent a history that does not currently seem well-represented on en.wikipedia. But this also means that the references are mostly not in English. That doesn't make them not reliable --some people might tell you otherwise, but they are wrong -- but if you want to help one thing you could do is find some good academic references in English, which would make it more accessible and authoritative to the users here. The article is a bit of a minefield, so I would suggest discussing any changes to the article with me or the people at the Teahouse or any other experienced editor that you might be working with. I could definitely use your help though, don't get me wrong, but it is important that you carefully read the warnings at the talk page before editing the article. Elinruby (talk) 22:36, 28 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks for providing a source. The links didn't work but I trust you now. 𝕸𝖗 𝕽𝖊𝖆𝖉𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝕿𝖚𝖗𝖙𝖑𝖊 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦 (talk) 22:43, 28 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh and, I have access to Wikipedia Library, so if you are having trouble getting to full-text on journal articles -- and that one in particular -- let me know and I will try to either get you the the text somehow (Mathglot might be able to help with this; they were explaining something about this to me not long ago) or I dunno, maybe get you access. God knows wikipedia in general needs to encourage editors who are interested in sourcing. BTW, I don't suppose you read any languages other than English? define "didn't work"? You got asked for a password? Here is the citation:

“To Resolve the Ukrainian Problem Once and for All”: The Ethnic Cleansing of Ukrainians in Poland, 1943–1947

Timothy Snyder Journal of Cold War Studies Vol. 1, No. 2 (Spring 1999), pp. 86-120 (35 pages) Published by: The MIT Press abstract: /www.jstor.org/stable/26925017

Abstract

The complicated and violent interactions between Ukrainians and Poles during and after World War II have been the subject of competing Ukrainian and Polish historical interpretations. This article sifts through the historical evidence to determine why Ukrainian and Polish memories of that period are so much at odds. The fate of the contested territories of Eastern Galicia and Volhynia was decided ultimately by the Soviet Union, which imposed new borders on Poland. Once those borders had been established, the transfer of Poles from the newly enlarged Soviet Ukraine and the forced removal of Ukrainians from eastern Poland consolidated an “ethnically cleansed” post-war order.

Looks pretty solid to me but for all I know you're a post-doc in the topic area, so I was serious about being happy to get constructive feedback. Even if you're just interested enough to nerd out, you can help ;) If you're getting a log-in screen -- do you have a Google account? that is how I am currently logged into that document. Elinruby (talk) 22:54, 28 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Oh hey I get a 404 error also on that link. I forgot that Jstor is like that. Try this [2]. You'll still need to log into Jstor with your Gongle account to get past the first page. (That doesn't work on all the databases though). Elinruby (talk) 23:02, 28 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Full text access to Snyder (1999) is available via the Wikipedia Library. Quickest access is to scroll down to the JStor badge, click "Access collection" button, then paste the title into the search box. Number 1 result gives you the full, 35 pages of the result (pp. 86–120), readable, and downloadable. Lmk if you need more help accessing it. I wonder if this is the same person as the author of On Tyranny. Mathglot (talk) 00:01, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - comments like the one I just reverted really don't help. Read WP:GRAVEDANCING, read WP:DENY, and consider whether they're likely to even be monitoring the talk page of an account they haven't used since 2007. WikiCup 2022 May newsletter

The second round of the 2022 WikiCup has now finished. It was a high-scoring round and contestants needed 115 points to advance to round 3. There were some very impressive efforts in round 2, with the top seven contestants all scoring more than 500 points. A large number of the points came from the 11 featured articles and the 79 good articles achieved in total by contestants.

Our top scorers in round 2 were:

  1. New York (state) Epicgenius, with 1264 points from 2 featured article, 4 good articles and 18 DYKs. Epicgenius was a finalist last year but has now withdrawn from the contest as he pursues a new career path.
  2. Christmas Island AryKun, with 1172 points from two featured articles, one good article and a substantial number of featured article and good article reviews.
  3. Kingdom of Scotland Bloom6132, with 605 points from 44 in the news items and 4 DYKs.
  4. Sammi Brie, with 573 points from 8 GAs and 21 DYKs.
  5. Ealdgyth, with 567 points from 11 GAs and 34 good and featured article reviews.
  6. United States Panini!, with 549 points from 1 FA, 4 GAs and several other sources.
  7. England Lee Vilenski, with 545 points from 1 FA, 4 GAs and a number of reviews.

The rules for featured and good article reviews require the review to be of sufficient length; brief quick fails and very short reviews will generally not be awarded points. Remember also that DYKs cannot be claimed until they have appeared on the main page. As we enter the third round, any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed now, and anything you forgot to claim in round 2 cannot! Remember too, that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Hello, I found a while ago that there is a group who is active on a certain nationalistic topic I don't want to name, that get agressive and sometimes abusive to people who disagree with their campaign. So I just wanted to say, after I saw you interacting with them, that it's better to take their agressive messages lightly, because they probably don't care about your opinion, they are paid one way or the other. If they get to that level of hostility, it's simply because they couldn't find a better manipulation. So have a nice day. --Vanlister (talk) 15:03, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Vanlister Are you referring to what tends to go on on Israel-Palestine pages? 𝕸𝖗 𝕽𝖊𝖆𝖉𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝕿𝖚𝖗𝖙𝖑𝖊 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦 (talk) 15:51, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't want to point fingers, but the group I am referring to is horribly manipulative, and I felt bad that regular people have to deal with such dishonesty. Good luck, keep on the good work whatever you are interested in. --Vanlister (talk) 19:40, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
