* Reason: Reason for requested renaming: I want to accurately portray my first/last name in Wikipedia. I didn't know I could use a space when entering a username. [[User:Dougjumper|Doug Jumper]] ([[User talk:Dougjumper|talk]]) 00:13, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Changing username/Simple
This page is a forum in which users can request, and global renamers (including stewards) can consider and carry out, requests to rename accounts to usernames that are not yet taken on any Wikimedia project. While global renamers carry out renames, other users (including bots) help by "clerking" the mechanics of this process. If you wish to help as a clerk, please read the linked page carefully.

Instructions
For help 'vanishing' from Wikipedia,
please see courtesy vanishing.

Once you have decided on the name you would like:

  1. Read this page first. You must be aware of, and understand, all of that information before requesting a username change
  2. Check to make sure this username is not already in use. Do this by searching for the name here. If the name appears in the results, even if on another Wikimedia project, it is taken.
  3. Do not create an account under the new name or move/redirect your userpages. We'll do that for you.
  4. Log in with your present username in order to place your request. Renames will not be approved if the requester is not logged in.
  5. Click here to place your request.
    • Add your desired username after NEW=
    • Add a reason for the change after REASON=
    • Do not change anything after CURRENT=
  6. Make sure that you have spelt your desired name correctly, including capitalization and spacing. Save the page. If your request is submitted malformed, please remedy it according to this page.
  7. Check back on this page periodically to answer any questions that may arise regarding your request. Please be patient. It may take a few days for your request to be completed. If you do not answer any questions, your request may be declined due to no response.
  8. Once your request has been completed, please do not remove or change your request. It will be archived automatically by a bot.
  • Requests that do not adhere to these instructions or that are grossly malformed are subject to removal.

Important Notes After you are renamed...
  • Due to technical limitations, usernames may not start with a lowercase letter. However, you may use the template {{lowercase title}} on your user and user talk pages, and change your signature to reflect your preference.
  • Underscores and spaces are considered identical by the MediaWiki software.
  • Use of a company, organization, group, website, or product name as a username is prohibited by the username policy.
  • Please understand the implications of using your real name before requesting a name change to it.
  • ... your name will be changed to the new one in the page history of every page you've edited.
  • ... your userpage and any subpages will be moved to the new name automatically. Please do not attempt to move them yourself.
  • ... links left by your previous signatures will still point to the old userpage; however, a redirect will be left behind to your new userpage.
  • ... your request will be automatically moved to the archives in the interest of transparency.

Current requests

Mrs. FactFinder → Julie Jett Putnam

Clerk note: Are you aware of the potential privacy-related ramifications that come from using your real name? Also, please read this guideline, as it pertains to your edits. Useight (talk) 07:47, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Raunak → ~NIC

Clerk note: one rename in November and a denied one in December (which was only about 43 edits ago - and only about 55 edits since the rename in November), I also don't understand your 'unified acc' reasoning the SUL report shows no accounts(however that may just be due to the toolserver lag). On the other hand privacy is a valid reason for rename, you should be aware though that if you get renamed this will most likely be your last/second last rename, are you sure this is the name you want? --Chris 11:09, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Done After some deliberation, privacy is to be respected. Kingturtle (talk) 17:41, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dwerghulo → Jack Napier

Bureaucrat note: you will need to confirm you are the eswiki Jack Napier. Post a note on that page and link here. RlevseTalk 00:53, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I am not the Spanish Wikipedia user Jack Napier. If I cannot be renamed to that name, can I usurp User:JackNapier (without the space)? That one looks like a vandalism-only account from 2006. Dwerghulo (talk) 04:20, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good.  DoneDan | talk 21:34, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pcworkspace → PCWorkspace

Clerk note: Username appears to be promotional. Using a company name as a username is prohibited by the username policy. Is there another username you'd like? Matt (Talk) 05:11, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Not done Name is promotional. Please find a different name. Review Username policy if need be. Kingturtle (talk) 17:42, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Popesilas → Silaswrites

Bureaucrat note:Since you are not an active editor and have barely participated in the past, why do you need visibility? --Dweller (talk) 12:23, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Selafim Cash → Selafimcash

I have read the various warnings placed on my user talk page and will adhere to our policies. --Selafim Cash (talk) 23:03, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

QOtOp → ~qOtOp~

Clerk note: The requested username is the same as your current name, aside from the first letter being in lowercase. Due to technical limitations, usernames must start with an uppercase letter. However, you may use the template {{lowercase title}} on your user and user talk pages, and change your signature to reflect your preference. Xclamation point 20:16, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Not so, X!. The tilde character is legal in a username. -Jéské Couriano (v^_^v) 20:42, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Clerk note: Created the account for you per your request at WP:ACC. Sorry again for the muckup with the requests. Regards, Matt (Talk) 05:06, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
 Not done New account created. EVula // talk // // 06:57, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gmichaeltorres → German Michael Torres

It looks like my page created for Wikipedia will be under gmichaeltorres (username. I thought user name was just my user name to log into wikipedia and NOT the name used to create a wikipedia page for people's searches... So if this is so, then i'd like to change the user name. My goal is to have a German Michael Torres page on wikipedia... Let me know if I understand this correctly.

best, Gmichaeltorres (talk) 20:54, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Clerk note: I refactored this request. Original post here. Useight (talk) 22:16, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • SoxBot has evaluated this request, and a problem(s) was found. Requesting user has 1 edit, to this page only. SoxBot VI (talk) 22:15, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Clerk note: As you only have one edit to this page it will probably be easier for you to create the new account yourself. You can create articles that have a different title to your username, but make sure you read WP:COI. Regards, Matt (Talk) 04:14, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Done Names may be too similar for user to do this alone. Kingturtle (talk) 17:45, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bedfordgroup → Bedford

Not done Someone already edits as Bedford. bibliomaniac15 22:14, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Medical museum → mcochan

Clerk note: What's your reason for requesting renaming? Also note that the MediaWiki software automatically capitalizes the first character of a username. However, you can change your signature to say whatever you like, within reason of course. You can also place {{lowercase}} on your userpage, talk page, and subpages to make them be displayed with an initial lowercase letter. Matt (Talk) 04:08, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Done something promotional to something not promotional. Kingturtle (talk) 22:36, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Joseph Warren Poulshock → Tek Smith

Clerk note: Hi. User accounts aren't allowed to be shared, if your assistant wants an account they should create one themself. Also, make sure you read WP:COI. Matt (Talk) 04:11, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Not done have your assistant create his/her own account. Kingturtle (talk) 20:34, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Herbiesteven93 → Soccafanatic7

Ahyman → JamesAmoeba

I realize now that using my last name in my username was a bad idea Ahyman (talk) 07:00, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Clerk note: I refactored this request. Original post here. Useight (talk) 07:06, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • SoxBot has evaluated this request, and renaming appears to be possible. SoxBot VI (talk) 07:06, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Bureaucrat note: Before I approve this request, please confirm that you have read WP:COI, especially this section of it. Please note that COI applies to you regardless of your username. --Dweller (talk) 12:03, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AeronPrometheus → AeronPeryton

Wspringers → Tennekill

Wiryawan.nimpuno → Wiryawan Nimpuno

Not done -- just forget this account and make a new one. — Dan | talk 21:35, 20 January 2009 (UTC)  Done don't mean to supercede you here, but that change was probably too similar for the user to make it without 'crat help. Kingturtle (talk) 22:39, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

St. Elizabeth's → St. Elizabeth's Dahlonega, Georgia

Your userpage should be about you, as a contributor to Wikipedia, and not about your church. Also, your account should be yours, used only by you (a single person), and not by various people "speaking for" your church. If you think your church is notable enough for an article in Wikipedia, please create the article in the main (article) namespace (see Wikipedia:Namespace for details), and not on your userpage. If you'd like to be renamed to something other than the name of your church -- your name, or your favorite nickname, or a clever handle of some kind -- let me know. — Dan | talk 21:40, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mikebektas → Mike_Bektas

Mikebektas → Mike_Bektas

CURRENT Becky Altringer (Private Investigator) → NEW Becky Altringer

Clerk note: All requests must be made while logged in to the account that will be renamed; this request was made by 76.175.77.147 (talk · contribs). Please log in to the account that is to be renamed and confirm this request. Xclamation point 00:13, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dougjumper → Doug Jumper
