Db-notice 2

This template allows for a second user to create ineligible pages. This template also exists in French.

Here is its draft with its documentation page

I've also tested overriding this template here and it works fine… 89.85.240.224 (talk) 20:57, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

While waiting for answers regarding my template, I added parameters myself to make the text more understandable. I also tested the template on my sandbox and here is the result. 176.161.55.214 (talk) 17:20, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Is this different from {{uw-create2}} and its series? Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 17:31, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ivanvector It looks a lot like it, plus I didn't even know this template existed because there was no language on this template... And so I added it here. 176.161.55.214 (talk) 18:09, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Just for reference, all of the English user warning templates are listed in Category:User warning templates, but a more helpful list can be found at Template:Multi notice links. I'm not sure that we normally update them on Wikidata for interlanguage linking, but I don't see why not. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits)

(Format) to (format) templates

I see there are templates like {{List to table}} and {{Table to prose}}, but there are no {{Table to list}} and {{Prose to table}} templates. Also, couldn't all these, as well as {{Prose}} and {{Create list}}, have a link to a talk page discussion? JSH-alive/talk/cont/mail 14:12, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@JSH-alive: Do you have use cases in mind for these? LittlePuppers (talk) 18:46, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@LittlePuppers: Well, I made a request at Talk:My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic discography#Couldn't the list be smartphone-friendly? that the tables in My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic discography and My Little Pony: Equestria Girls discography are converted to bulleted lists (or similar) so they are easily readable on smartphones. But I couldn't find an appropriate template to put at the top of these articles. JSH-alive/talk/cont/mail 08:25, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Scientific American Frontiers archive-date error

Template:Scientific American Frontiers is creating citation errors in 40+ articles because of an invalid archive-date. The archive-date used in the template is a year only (2006), but archive-date= must specify a whole date. When you click on the archived url used in the template, the archive-date is February 12, 2006. But it is being used for multiple seasons/episodes, on multiple articles, and when you click on the archive-url in an article it is being used at, it re-directs to a completely different archive-url than the one given in the template. For instance, in Alan Alda's article, the archive-url used in the template re-directs to this archive url, and when accessed shows an archive-date of October 16, 2005. In Walter C. Pitman III's article, the archive url when accessed shows an archive-date of September 15, 2005. In Jane Goodall's article, the archive url when accessed shows an archive-date of February 8, 2006. In Little Ice Age, the archive url when accessed shows an archive date of February 17, 2006. Diffs showing the citation errors: Alan Alda, Walter C. Pitman III, Jane Goodall, Little Ice Age, Perpetual motion, Roswell incident, Godzilla vs. Charles Barkley, Loebner Prize, etc. Not sure what the fix is since the template archive-url re-directs to specific episodes with specific archive-urls with specific archive-dates. Thanks. Isaidnoway (talk) 21:43, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I wanted to add I tried changing the archive-date to February 12, 2006 in the template and used "Preview page with this template" (Alan Alda), and I got a timestamp mismatch error. And I didn't want to change the archive url, since it wouldn't be the correct archive-url for the specific episodes being referenced in the articles. Veteran Editor template

Hello. If someone has the time and interest, I have a request. Add an option to the {{Veteran Editor II}} template to have different colors. Specifically, in the image have the option of just white and tones of gray, except for the star. If you have more time, it would be great if you could do this for the entire Veteran series. A template for the amount of edits of a particular Wikipedian

I don't know if it exists yet, and I suck at coding, but if it were to exist it would be quite nice, and if it doesn't exist yet could a very nice programmer with spare time please create one? I'll give both halves of the half barnstar as a prize :3

Banned user: edit for global locking

Please could {{Banned user}} have a "global" parameter added to display cases that are locked globally rather than only on English Wikipedia, like {{WMF-legal banned user}}? – Fayenatic London 08:21, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Just wondering, are there global blocks that aren't ultimately from WMF-legal? Does this have an actual use case, or should we be looking at migrating some subset of {{Banned user}} over to {{WMF-legal banned user}}? VanIsaac, GHTV contWpWS 22:10, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Link to remove

Hello, This template is to be used in talk pages: it prevents a link to a page from turning red when this target page is deleted. This pattern makes the link stay blue, and directs to the target page, or its deletion log if that target page is deleted. here are some examples on talk pages: 1, 2, 3, 4

This template also exists in French and is included in a very large number of pages.

There is also a draft (as well as its documentation page) to rename if it suits everyone... 80.214.97.84 (talk) 19:21, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Making a template for Wikiprojects: Marvel

I notice there is a template/userbox to use for the people who are members of the Marvel comics Wikiproject. I want to know how to make a template of that but as a topicon. I have already made the topicon, and used it on my user page, so i know it works. could someone code it and make it a template so others could use it? Thanks! Here is the code for it (i removed one { so it doesn't add the topicon to this page):

{Top icon | imagename = Marvel Logo.svg | wikilink = Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics/Marvel Comics work group | description = This user is a member of the Marvel Comics Wikiproject | id = 232378 }}

Done,Template:User Marvel Comics work group topicon - please test if it works NotAGenious (talk) 11:02, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think it works. Also added to WikiProject page. NotAGenious (talk) 11:12, 23 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Template for a bot

Hello, I created a template for a bot that allows you to notify a user that a page has been deleted. On French Wikipedia, Salebot announces page deletion to beginners once an administrator has deleted a page using this template (examples: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6…). And I would like if a bot could do that here with this template… Here is an example when a page was deleted.

80.215.207.145 (talk) 15:56, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Is this a request for a template or a request for a bot? LittlePuppers (talk) 18:33, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@LittlePuppers A template for a bot. This is to install it in a subpage of a bot (like this one). I don't have a bot or an account... 80.214.24.58 (talk) 06:55, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Well, getting an account is very easily solvable. Creating the template is also fairly easy (if you submit it for review on that draft page, it'll probably get created), but I don't see much point if there isn't going to be a bot and you aren't planning on using it. LittlePuppers (talk) 23:06, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Categorify

See [1] . As this template would involve a page's deletion, I am conflicted as to if it should be "cleanup" or "content." Please list any issues with the basic idea of this template or my implementation. Mach61 (talk) 02:10, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Add child-unsafe as a template

I propose a {{child-unsafe}} template to warn children about articles that discuss taboo topics or contain taboo content.

It would look a bit like the {{Outdated}} template, but with a different symbol and some text saying, "This article discusses topics often considered taboo. If you do not enjoy reading such articles, you should stop reading now." GrinningIodize (talk) 19:06, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@GrinningIodize: this will never happen; see Wikipedia:No disclaimers. There's consistent community consensus against doing something like this. Elli (talk | contribs) 19:29, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A template for closeted lgbtq(ia)+ users. Perhaps with a picture of a closet, preferably in the small box format. Sorry if there is one that I could not find. Thanks! Megabits000 (talk) 02:22, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

HeinOnline template

For law-related articles, a template for HeinOnline similar to {{ProQuest}} to use in the |ID= parameter of CS1 templates would be useful. HeinOnline URLs are uniform. For example, in https://heinonline.org/HOL/LandingPage?handle=hein.journals/annam1948&div=41, "annam1948" represents the journal ID and volume number, and the number following "div=" represents the specific article within the journal. It would be great if the user could input the entire unique identifier (e.g. annam1948&div=41) and then have the template parse it out to something like this: Heinonline annam1948/41. Thanks!
