    Question about California navbox color

Does anyone here have any insight into why California templates are yellow instead of blue?-UCO2009bluejay (talk) 02:58, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@UCO2009bluejay It could be because it's "the golden state" or maybe someone just liked them that way. Personally, I think it looks good to use different colors and is less boring. The colored state navboxes are:

    Richland City, Indiana

I believe the name of Richland City, Indiana is incorrect. It should just be Richland, Indiana. Maybe the CDP was named Richland City, and it changed its name when it incorporated. Can someone confirm this? Kk.urban (talk) 19:46, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Done I moved it to Richland, Spencer County, Indiana (because there is also an unincorporated community named Richland in Indiana. Kk.urban (talk) 22:41, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Race/ethnicity maps being added to more than a hundred articles

I'd like some opinions please about the efforts of an editor here to add race and ethnicity maps to a very large number of articles. Example edit: [1]. See CensusDots' contributions for more examples. I've blocked the editor User:CensusDots who has been adding these, but not because they are adding them. I blocked them because the account appears to represent the organization that has put these maps together, which violates our username policy. Should we really be adding such maps? Opinions please. --Hammersoft (talk) 04:58, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Here we go again. The same old nonsense, perpetuating old perceptions of 'race' as biological fact rather than the social construct it clearly is. With the added bonus of turning 'Hispanic' into a race. It isn't. It isn't even an ethnicity. It is a linguistic category. The maps are absurd anyway, since the source (censusdots.com) claims that 'Each dot represents one person', which is clearly impossible on any map compiled from census data, or indeed in any map of a scale capable of being displayed on Wikipedia. The website also claims that their map is copyright. And just to add further uselessness, the way colours are blended together means that nobody will be able to make sense of the maps anyway. Delete the lot. AndyTheGrump (talk) 10:19, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Article titles for subpages for New York State and New York City

We have a bunch of subpages that pertain to New York State and New York City (ex. Geography of New York (state) and Geography of New York City) and would like to get a consensus on what to do with the subpages. We already got a consensus on what to do with the main pages and was wondering what to do with those pages and titles like Geography of New York. Should it redirect somewhere or be its own dab page. My thoughts are that for pages like Governor of New York, it doesn't need to be titled Governor of New York (state) since NYC doesn't have a governor. My personal opinion is that unless the title has the potential to cause confusion, the titles are fine without disambiguation. But for pages where the title is ambiguous like Government of New York, I don't know what is best whether it should redirect there or be a dab page. Hopefully we can get a consensus on what to do in those cases. Interstellarity (talk) 14:28, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm happy with how you have it here, using disambig pages unless it's readily apparent which one it refers to. Unless I'm missing something, that seems to line up pretty well with standard practice per WP:DISAMBIG. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 20:05, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Aging of the United States

Aging of the United States needs more eyes. An editor is writing a reflective essay on the subject and restricting the scope to aging in the 21st century. I tagged it as such, but this was reverted, and the recentism and essay-writing were justified because aging is "a recent phenomenon and people have opinions on this topic". Former statistical areas (metropolitan/micropolitan)

There are several metropolitan, micropolitan, and combined statistical areas which have been abolished, broken up, or combined into a different area, or simply had their boundaries adjusted. The most recent list, published in 2023, includes all the counties in each. It is available here: https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/OMB-Bulletin-23-01.pdf. I am going to work on updating these, and it would be great if anyone would like to help.

Related to this, should we keep categories such as Category:Pascagoula metropolitan area when the area no longer exists? Thanks. Kk.urban (talk) 22:21, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Global Strategy Group Advocacy campaigns section

Hello, I work at the political consulting firm Global Strategy Group. This WikiProject is listed at the top of the GSG Talk page, so I thought it might be a good place to find an independent editor to review an edit request I placed in early March. In my request, which you can view here, I'm proposing an Advocacy campaigns section that details GSG's work on social and political issues like gun safety, abortion access, and criminal justice reform. This aspect of the firm's business has been covered pretty extensively in the press, but it's not mentioned in the article at all. So I'm trying to fix that.

I've struggled to find editors to field this request, so I would be deeply appreciative if someone takes a look, even if it's just to give constructive criticism. Thank you! ES at Global Strategy Group (talk) 20:40, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
