Calendar changes

Rule changes

  • Starting in 2016, the number of pre-season tests will be reduced from four to three.[35]
  • In September 2014, the FIA World Motorsport Council commissioned a review into the process new drivers go through in order to qualify for a superlicence—a mandatory pre-requisite for all drivers—to be introduced in 2016.[36] The review was commissioned in response to concerns over the way Dutch teenager Max Verstappen qualified for one with less than one year's experience competing in open-wheel racing cars.
