Poraiyahat is a town in the Poraiyahat CD block in the Godda subdivision of the Godda district, in Jharkhand, India.

Poraiyahat is a small town which is located in the north - east border of Bihar and Jharkhand in Godda district at 24°40′41″N 87°10′19″E / 24.67806°N 87.17194°E
The town has six zones: first, River zone which included Gyaytrinagar, second, Purana Bazar old Poreyahat, and Shiv colony, third, Main Road where a market, Community Govt big Hospital, daily vegetables & fish market, bus station and a few banks(SBI, BOI, Bandhan, Allahabad, Canara, Gramin Bank) are located, four, the zone is around Bhanjhi Road which is the second market zone with wholesale business, fifth, is Danre Road and it is a coaching and student friendly area.
Poraiyahat has an area of 487 hectares (1,200 acres).[1]
Overview
The map shows a hilly area with the Rajmahal hills running from the bank of the Ganges in the extreme north to the south, beyond the area covered by the map into Dumka district. ‘Farakka’ is marked on the map and that is where Farakka Barrage is, just inside West Bengal. Rajmahal coalfield is shown in the map. The entire area is overwhelmingly rural with only small pockets of urbanisation.[2]

Demographics
According to the 2011 Census of India, Poraiyahat had a total population of 6,319, of which 3,296 (52%) were males and 3,023 (48%) were females. Population in the age range 0–6 years was 876. The total number of literate persons in Poraiyahat was 4,106 (75.44% of the population over 6 years).[1]

Transport
The Deoghar-Godda-Pirpainti NH 133 passes through Poraiyahat. This national highway connects to the Farakka-Arwal NH 33 at Pirpainti. There is a road from Poraiyahat to Danre which takes to Bhagalpur & There is a road for Dumka state sub capital.,[6][7] NHAI is approved for Poraiyahat bypass road .
The 30 km Hansdiha-Godda rail link project of Eastern Railway, is operational now. The line pass through Poraiyahat.[8][9] There is two new train started from Poreyahat Railway station to Bhagalpur Junction and Dumka Station. These train originated from Poreyahat.
Education
There are various good schools in Poreyahat with Hostel Facilities. Most of Godda District Topper comes from Poreyahat or Godda. There is one Govt model College for professional and bachelor's degree courses and another one ITI college for technical studies . There are good no of student study here and all around ten thousand student are enjoying their study here.
