The United States Air Force's 202d RED HORSE squadron is an Air National Guard unit located at Camp Blanding, Florida. RED HORSE is an acronym formed from "Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy Operational Repair Squadron Engineers"

  • January 1985, the Air National Guard activated 202d RED HORSE Squadron at Camp Blanding, Florida.
  • Spring 1998 the 202d helped defeat wildfires in Florida.
  • In 2004, 202d and the 203d responded and provided assistance after three disastrous hurricanes, Charley, Frances, Ivan.

Mission

  • To provide highly mobile, rapidly deployable civil engineering response force self-sufficient for worldwide deployment.[1]

History

Assignments

  • In July 2002 the 202 RHS was deployed to Jamaica to assist in the building of a clinic.[2]
  • The 202 RHS & 203 RHS was deployed to Camp Darby, Italy to support depot storage.
  • The 202 RHS was deployed as a relief force to Hurricane Katrina.
