Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Dhalai, is a higher secondary school in the rural area of 82 miles, Kanchancherra, under Dhalai district of Tripura state, India. It is located at a distance of 13 km from Kumarghat, the nearest railway station. The nearest airport, Agartala Airport is at a distance of 158 km from the Vidyalaya.[1]
Introduction
The Vidyalaya functions under the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Shillong region. The Vidyalaya falls under Cluster-C of Cluster level competitions under the region. Education in the Vidyalaya is free of cost.[2]
Admission
Admission to the Vidyalaya is made through a National Level Competitive Examination conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education and the children are admitted at class VI level. All the children who have studied in and passed Class V from any recognized school of the district and are between 9 and 13 years of age are eligible to appear Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya selection test (JNVST) for Class VI. A total of 75% of seats are reserved for rural children and a minimum of 33% of seats are reserved for girls. SCs/STs also have due reservations of 15% & 7% respectively. Children are also being admitted against the vacant seats in class IX and in class XI through a Regional Level Examination.[3]

Migration
The main objective of the Samiti’s Migration Policy in the JNVs is to promote and imbibe National integration in society and upon the minds of learners to develop a stronger sense of nationalism and brotherhood. A major step in this direction is the scheme of migration executed for class IX students. JNV Dhalai is linked with JNV Saran, Patna under the Migration policy of the Samiti.[5]
