Sriti Jha (born 26 February 1986)[2] is an Indian television actress who appears in Indian soap operas.[1] She rose to prominence with her roles in the shows Jiya Jale, Jyoti, Dil Se Di Dua... Saubhagyavati Bhava?, Balika Vadhu and Kumkum Bhagya. She won the Indian Telly Award for Best Actress in a Lead Role, ITA Award for Best Actress in Drama series and Gold Award for Best Actress in a Lead Role for her portrayal as Pragya Mehra in Ekta Kapoor's drama series Kumkum Bhagya.

Early life

Jha was born on 26 February 1986[2] in Begusarai, Bihar, India. She went to live with her family in Kolkata, where they stayed for 10 years, then moved to Kathmandu, Nepal. Then they moved to New Delhi, where she continued her studies in Laxman Public School.[3] She completed her bachelor of arts in English from Sri Venkateshwara College, New Delhi

Career

Jha made her debut in 2007 playing Malini Sharma in Disney India's teen drama Dhoom Machaao Dhoom.[4] She went on to be a part of Jiya Jale where she played Sunaina Kotak. Jha has also participated in the dance show Nachle Ve with Saroj Khan.In 2009 she played Suhani in Star Plus's Shaurya Aur Suhani.She rose to prominence with Jyoti on NDTV Imagine playing Sudha Sharma, a split personality patient. In 2011, she played Jhanvi, a victim of domestic violence in Dil Se Di Dua... Saubhagyavati Bhava?.[3] She played a blind girl in Rakt Sambandh. She played Ganga in Balika Vadhu.

Since 2014, Jha has been portraying Pragya Mehra in Ekta Kapoor's Kumkum Bhagya opposite Shabir Ahluwalia. Her portrayal won her the Indian Telly Award for Best Actress in a Lead Role.
