The Beechwood Elementary School is a midsized, urban, public school located in the Beechview neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The building was built in 1908. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.[1] The school provides taxpayer funded preschool through 5th grade in 2011. Enrollment was 359 in 2011. Students who qualify for free or reduced lunch: 71.08%. Enrollment was 415 in 2010 with 22 teachers employed.[3] The school is part of the Pittsburgh School District.

Academics

In 2010 and 2011, Beechwood Elementary School achieved AYP status.[4] The school's attendance rate was 94% in both 2010 and 2011.[5]

Fifth grade

In 2011, Beechwood Elementary School's 5th grade ranked 242nd out of 281 fifth grades in the seven county western Pennsylvania region.[6]

Beechwood has many activities that go on yearly.Roar/RIF assemblies, Spanish club, Art club, Writers Club, Basketball, Cheerleading,etc.
