Merge

[edit]

While America may be more poetic, is is ambigous. It may refer to "the Americas" or just the United States. That's why we avoid "America" and always use at least "the United States" or even better, "the United States of America". Kevlar67 18:53, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please see WP:CFD. The merge templates used here are only appropriate for articles, not categories. Also, this topic was recently debated at WP:CFD, with eventual withdrawl of the nomination because of complex issues related to geography. Dr. Submillimeter 14:55, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
LOL. All Americans are immigrants. This category is silly. - Darwinek 11:46, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sub-category??

[edit]

This category is apparently a sub-category of Category:Naturalized citizens of the United States, of which the members are unsurprisingly described as "people who have become Americans through naturalization". But Immigrants to the United States are not necessarily naturalised US citizens, as can be seen by looking at many (most? all?) of the articles in this category. If this category is useful (I have my doubts), it needs to be categorised elsewhere. --GuillaumeTell 16:37, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
