Dazhu County (Chinese: 大竹县) is a county of Sichuan Province, China. It is under the administration of Dazhou city.
Dazhu, the main town of Dazhu county is a small town by Chinese standards but has a rich history. It is famous for producing its own unique alcoholic rice dish which is more of a soup or porridge than a drink. It is also the site of one China's many political prisons. A walk past the prison is quite surprising as it seem to be just a government office compound with not much in the way of security. Which would lead me to believe it is a low security political prison. Dazhu is also home to some unique ancient relics. Quite common on the outskirts of the town can be found ancient stone, igloo type houses. Most are now buried or filled with rubble or rubbish. Several however are still being used as homes and some have been converted into brick Kilns.
