If you remove an image from an article, you should list the article it used to be at, so there can be effective community review of whether the image should be deleted or not. This is necessary because the image pages do not remember the articles they used to be used on.

There's a lot of junk in User:Silsor/weirdmedia that needs to be deleted - I already deleted some obvious ones, like an Outlook Express executable. silsor 06:53, Feb 17, 2004 (UTC)

- I glanced over the list (and used a nice combination of wget and file to examine some of them), and discovered:
  - .jpe appears to be a valid extension for JPEG files (Mozilla and IE both display these fine; but on second thoughts, maybe that's for the same reason as the next item down...) so these can probably be unlisted (unless they break on some other browser...)
  - Image:TVA Act Signing, Image:Carter Family, Image:Dixie Chicks Home, Image:C diff, Image:Rush Limbaugh Newsweek cover October 20 2003, Image:Test Card J 0001, Image:Ride Press Shot, Image:RideMark04 are all actually JPEGs as well; it might be worth re-uploading them with an appropriate filename extension, but they seem to display fine for me.
  - Image:Yucca. flowering.NZ is a "MacBinary" file containing a JPEG; perhaps someone could extract the actual image, or ask Moriori, who uploaded it.
    - I decoded this and put it at Image:Yucca flowering.jpg. It's quite a nice picture although I'm not entirely sure what species it is. Possibly yucca aloifolia, aka Spanish bayonet [1]. I've never been good at identifying plants. -- Cyrius|&#9998 03:47, Apr 23, 2004 (UTC)

- It's not orphaned - it's still at Team Rocket. It looks like you tried to switch to the optimized picture, but there was no change to the article.   - We need a little history here. When Eisenhower visited the liberated camps, he insisted that the pictures of the horrors be made as documentation "or people will claim it never happened." Many of these pictures have been widely published, including other horrors such as the array of heads in the Rape of Nanking. Delete. I don't believe this is encyclopedic. By constrast, those of JFK are, because there's a discussion (and a controversy) regarding the specifics of the mode of death. If it was big and sharp it might give me pause, but, especially since it's so small and fuzzy, I think the veracity and currency (maybe it would be less useful some time from now) arguments are enuf. A little less controversial here: I've completed as much of the task at /Flags as I could---see that page for explanations---and so all of the Foo flag medium.png files should be up for deletion, as they are obsolete thumbnails, each obsoleted by Foo flag large.png|125px.
