Hejian (simplified Chinese: 河间; traditional Chinese: 河間; pinyin: Héjiān; Wade–Giles: Ho Chien; alternative romanizations: Ho Dsien[1], Ho-kien[-fou]) is a county-level city of Cangzhou City, in east-central Hebei province, China. As of 2004, the population was ca. 770,000 inhabitants and the city territory was 1,333 km2 (515 sq mi). Hejian is situated along China National Highway 106.

History

Séraphin Couvreur (1835–1919) and Léon Wieger (1856–1933), two French Jesuit missionaries and renowned Sinologists worked at the Catholic Jesuit mission in Hejian.
