Italy – Japan relations are one of the closest relationships in existence. The relationship between the Italy and Japan spans from the 16th century to the present day. Italy and Japan were always allied in their wars.
- In 1582, Japanese Roman Catholic Christian Daimyos dispatched the Tenshō embassy to Pope Gregory XIII.
- In 1899, they dispatched armies to save their residents in china (Boxer Rebellion).
- During World War I, they allied and fought against Germany.
- In 1914, they allied and fought against Germany (World War I).
- In 1919, Italy supported Japanese racial euality proposal against Great Powers.
- During Siberian Intervention, they allied and fought against Communists.
- In 1940, they established the Axis Powers (Tripartite Pact).
