Network Utility is an application included with Mac OS X that provides a variety of computer network information. It is located at /Applications/Utilities/Network Utility.app in versions of OS X up to and including 10.8, and at /System/Library/CoreServices/Applications/Network Utility.app as of version 10.9. In 10.9 it is also accessible from the Window menu in the System Information app.

Port scan

Network Utility uses the tools supplied in the unix directories for most of its functions, however for the port scan it uses a unix executable in its resources folder, stroke, found at Network Utility.app/Contents/Resources/stroke.
