Oooh...I would love to see the MRT next! --Sky Harbor 03:08, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If no one objects this'll be next. --Howard the Duck 04:23, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Why not make this on December, since another train-related SA would make it appear that this portal is stale? --Howard the Duck 15:31, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I would like to nominate my article about Mariano Trias. Kevin Ray 04:17, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • If it improves into GA-level by January it can be selected here. (Note that it's on the Did you know section, right now.) --Howard the Duck 06:18, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I would like to nominate Dagami, Leyte to become a featured article. Unlike other articles on the municipalities of Leyte, this has a lot more info and has quite improved as an article over the last few months. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stevenphil (talkcontribs) 18:52, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Errors[edit]

Post errors about the articles at the portal page here.

Actually, in 1543 Ruy Lopez de Villalobos used the name "Las Islas Felipinas" in honor of Crown Prince Don Felipe, who would later become King Phillip II, on January 16, 1556. Ruy Lopez died before Don Felipe ascended to the Spanish throne.

Barangay Putik[edit]

Historical Background[edit]

Long before the coming of the Spaniards to Zamboanga, the place has no name. And this is how Putik got its name…..

At the time when the Spaniards occupied Zamboanga, they usually go around to see different places. One day, they met a tradesman who came from Luzon. The tradesman accompanied by the Spaniards went sight-seeing around the place. It was a rainy season that time and the soil seemed like clay, and so it was slippery. While they were walking, one of the Spaniards stumbled down. He suddenly stood up and asked the trader what was the name of the place. He answered “putik”, he meant muddy. That knowing the tradesman does not know Spanish.

From that time and until now, they call this place as PUTIK.
