Shakti Mohan is a contemporary dancer from India. She was the winner of Zee TV's dance reality show Dance India Dance season 2. She is currently appearing as a judge on popular Dance reality show Dance plus season 1 and 2 on Star plus . Shakti has been a judge on international show Dance Singapore dance in 2015. She is featuring in Remo D Souza's next dance movie as a lead opposite Salman Yusuf khan. Shakti runs her initiative called Nritya Shakti under which she has international tours of dance workshops, launched calendars and set up a Studio in Mumbai which is 2800 sq feet overlooking serene open marsh lands. Shakti mohan was launched by her inspiration to be Saroj Khan, a former bollywood cheorographer as well.
Personal life
Shakti Mohan was born on 12 October 1985. She has three sisters, including Neeti Mohan, Mukti Mohan and Kriti Mohan.[3] Mohan is originally from Delhi but has lived in Mumbai since 2006. She studied at Birla Balika Vidyapeeth, a boarding school, and has an MA in Political Science from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. She was planning to become an IAS officer[4] before her appearance on Dance India Dance. A trained Contemporary artist, she graduated with a diploma in dance from Terence Lewis Dance Foundation Scholarship Trust in 2009.[5]
Dance career
Following her victory in the second season of Dance India Dance. Shakti Mohan produced dance-themed calendars for 2012 and 2013.[6] In 2012 she collaborated with composer Mohammed Fairouz on a BBC-sponsored dance project in New York.[7] She also produced a dance music video together with her sisters.[8] In 2013 Mohan launched a YouTube channel with dance instruction videos.[9] Parineeti Chopra who came as a guest on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa confessed that she was a fan of Shakti Mohan.[10]
