Sun Zhengcai
Sun Zhengcai (simplified Chinese: 孙政才; traditional Chinese: 孫政才; pinyin: Sūn Zhèngcái; born September 1963 in Wendeng, Weihai, Shandong) is the CPC Secretary of Jilin province since November 2009. Prior to that, he served as Minister of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China. In July 1988, he joined the Communist Party of China. He has been a researcher of agricultural science in Beijing, and held many political positions in the Beijing region. In February 2002, he became the Party Secretary of the Shunyi District outside of Beijing. After serving concurrently as secretary general of the Beijing CPC Committee, in December 2006, the 25th plenary session of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress appointed him head of the Ministry of Agriculture.[1] As one of the youngest provincial-level leaders, Sun is considered as a promising candidate for the sixth-generation leaders of the Communist Party. He is a member of the 17th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
Sun later served as secretary of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee and concurrently standing committee chairman of the Provincial People's Assembly.
In November 2012, after the 18th CPC National Congress, he was appointed 18th Central Committee Politburo member and replaced Zhang Dejiang as party chief of Chongqing.
